Are you in the market for a hybrid mattress that won’t break the bank? Brooklyn Bedding sought to address just that with their Signature Hybrid mattress. This bed comes in at an affordable price without sacrificing any quality in its craftsmanship.
The Brooklyn Bedding Signature Hybrid combines foam and coils for a super supportive and simple bed that’ll get the job done for many sleepers. I tested this bed in our studio to see what all the rage is about.
Note: The Brooklyn Bedding Signature Hybrid comes in three different firmness levels, but I tested out the best-selling option, Medium—so that’s what this review will focus on.

Who I Recommend The Brooklyn Bedding Signature Hybrid For:
- Those interested in a classic hybrid design – This bed has a classic hybrid design that lets you experience the resilient support of coils while being gently cradled by pressure-relieving foam.
- Combination sleepers – The bed’s abundant responsiveness and three firmness options means it can work for everyone—especially combo sleepers.
- Hot sleepers – TitaniumGel™ in the TitanFlex™ foam helps reduce heat retention. The coil layer also increases airflow, which helps keep the bed temperature neutral. Extra-hot sleepers can add the GlacioTex™ cooling cover for additional comfort.
Who I Don’t Recommend The Brooklyn Bedding Signature Hybrid For:
- Fans of all-foam beds – While there’s a lot to love about hybrids, those who prefer all-foam designs may enjoy a different model. In this case, try checking our list of the best memory foam beds, which has some great all-foam mattresses.
- Couples who want lots of motion isolation – This bed performed poorly in our motion isolation testing, probably due to how soft the surface is. Plus, it’s a highly responsive bed, which often impacts this too. Check out our best mattresses for couples list with more options for motion-isolating beds.
- Couples who want lots of motion isolation – This bed performed poorly in our motion isolation testing, probably due to how soft the surface is. Plus, it’s a highly responsive bed, which often impacts this too. Check out our best mattresses for couples list with more options for motion-isolating beds.
- Most stomach sleepers – The Signature Hybrid’s Medium model might not be the best for stomach sleepers weighing above 130 pounds. These sleepers likely need more support for the hips to prevent lower back pain. Check our best mattresses for stomach sleepers if this is your preferred sleeping position.
Customer Reviews of the Brooklyn Bedding Signature Hybrid
On Brooklyn Bedding’s website, the Brooklyn Signature has 4.7 out of 5 stars based on over 11,000 reviews. The Brooklyn Bedding Signature Hybrid mattress receives praise from customers for its versatility with different firmness options, but some have mentioned that it may produce slight noise when bearing weight.
Testing the Brooklyn Bedding Signature Hybrid
Sleep Advisor’s Testing Methodology
I tested the Signature Hybrid Medium. In my testing, I focused on important consumer categories like support, pressure relief, motion isolation, bounce, and edge support. These categories helped me evaluate whether the Brooklyn Bedding Signature Hybrid would be good for couples as well.
I also wanted to share how it feels in different sleeping positions and for different weight groups. My colleagues Julia Forbes and Spencer Bland tested this bed as average-weight and heavyweight sleepers, respectively. I, myself, am a lightweight sleeper.

Firmness & Feel
Firmness Scale: 5/10 (Medium)
At Sleep Advisor, we rate mattresses on a scale of 1 to 10 to better explain how they feel. The Brooklyn Bedding Signature Hybrid is right in the middle of our scale, with a firmness of 5 out of 10. This rating indicates that the mattress is a true medium, and that’s exactly how I’d describe it.
I’ve created the chart below to help you match your sleeping position to the ideal Brooklyn Bedding firmness option.
SLEEPING POSITION | BEST SIGNATURE HYBRID FIRMNESS OPTION |
Side Sleeper | Soft or Medium |
Back Sleeper | Medium |
Stomach Sleeper | Firm |
Combination Sleeper | Medium |
How Does The Brooklyn Bedding Signature Hybrid Mattress Feel?
This mattress feels like a true medium, but the pillowy surface is putting in the work, making it feel a bit softer for some people. I’m lightweight, and I’d say it’s medium firmness, while Julia and Spencer experienced it as being softer at the surface. Nonetheless, the coils do a good job of supporting the body, even with the cushiony top.
Sleeping Positions for Different Body Types
All Brooklyn Bedding mattresses can support up to 900 pounds, the Signature Hybrid included. However, the company recommends those weighing over 300 pounds try their Titan Plus mattress, which is specially made for heavier folks.
Side Sleepers
Lightweight Sleepers | I found a great level of cushion around my hips and shoulders, which is where most pressure builds up when lying on the side. I didn’t feel like one side was sinking more than the other, so that’s a plus. |
Average-Weight Sleepers | The top layers cushion your body while providing excellent weight distribution for those weighing 130 to 230 pounds. Julia compared the Signature Hybrid’s top to the WinkBed and even the Saatva Classic due to the excellent spine alignment and contouring she experienced in this position. |
Heavyweight Sleepers | According to Spencer, who is a heavyweight sleeper, there was no pressure buildup in his shoulders or hips. That means if you’re a plus-size sleeper above 230 pounds, you’re likely to feel as comfortable and cushioned as any other side sleeper. |
Back Sleepers
Lightweight Sleepers | I don’t usually sink far enough to experience contouring around the lower back, but the Signature Hybrid was a pleasant surprise, providing just that. |
Average-Weight Sleepers | I think this bed should work well for average-weight sleepers because, as Julia said, there’s plenty of cushioning and support, even without any special layers designed for lumbar support. |
Heavyweight Sleepers | Spencer said the Brooklyn Bedding Signature Hybrid feels wonderful in this position. He says the cushion around his hips is pushing back just enough with the buoyant feel, creating a balance of support and pressure relief. |
Stomach Sleepers
Lightweight Sleepers | Although the Signature Hybrid felt cozy around my hips, I did notice my hips sinking quite a bit. This created lower back pain in this position. |
Average-Weight Sleepers | I think most stomach sleepers weighing 130 to 230 pounds should consider the Firm model. Julia found the Medium too soft for lumbar support, even though there was enough support for her shoulders. |
Heavyweight Sleepers | Although cushioning is good in this position, heavy stomach sleepers are unlikely to find proper support. Spencer experienced his hips sinking too deeply, which I think will be the experience of many heavy stomach sleepers. |
Pressure Relief
5/5
Pressure relief is where it’s at for the Brooklyn Bedding Signature Hybrid. The lack of pressure buildup is remarkable, which is something we agreed on across the testing team.
Brooklyn Bedding Signature Hybrid scores highly in this category because it hugs your body to relieve pressure in sensitive areas such as the hips, knees, and shoulders.

Is the Brooklyn Bedding Signature Hybrid Good for Pain Relief?
Yes, I think the Brooklyn Bedding Signature Mattress provides a nice balance of support and cushioning that may help with pain. Plus, having multiple firmness options means this bed could work for a wider variety of body types and sleep position preferences.
Back Pain | Back pain can come from improper spine alignment while sleeping. I think the Brooklyn Bedding’s Signature Hybrid in Medium provides sufficient support for most sleepers thanks to the Ascension® coils. The only exception here is going to be average and heavyweight stomach sleepers, who likely won’t get enough lumbar support. Read more about mattresses for back pain here. |
Hip Pain | Hip pain can be an issue for many side sleepers, and Brooklyn Bedding tackles this using multiple foam layers that respond to movement. The hyper-elastic premium memory foam adjusts to your body, which may help ease pain in the hips. Read more about mattresses for hip pain here. |
Shoulder Pain | I think the Signature Hybrid is a good option for people with shoulder pain. I felt no pressure buildup in the shoulders, and neither did Julia and Spencer. The shoulders are cradled and cushioned without too much sinking. Explore more mattresses for shoulder pain here. |
Support
5/5
The innerspring layer features 961 individually encased coils made to provide deep compression support against your body weight to help ensure your spine stays neutral. The company has also added a .25-inch high-density foam base below this layer to reinforce the coils as they compress. The Medium and Firm Signature Hybrid models are the most supportive, while the Soft model may only support lightweight sleepers.
When testing this bed, I felt my spine was perfectly straight in different positions. Julia points out the excellent spine alignment she experienced when lying on her back, though the bed has no particular layers designed for lumbar support.
Motion Isolation
2/5
Motion isolation is the bed’s ability to absorb movement so that it doesn’t transfer from one side to the other. This is particularly important for couples to help them sleep peacefully if the other person is tossing and turning.
When we test motion isolation, we use a seismograph app to see the movement across a mattress. The results allow us to see how much a mattress moves when you jump or switch positions. It’s best to get as straight of a line as possible in a seismograph reading.
With the Signature Hybrid, I have to say the motion isolation is poor. The seismograph showed too many high peaks, indicating plenty of movement. Even without the seismograph, I noticed the spring-back is instantaneous, which leads me to believe you’re likely to feel your partner get in and out of bed.
How Durable is the Brooklyn Bedding Signature Hybrid?
The Brooklyn Bedding Signature Hybrid is made from foam and coils wrapped in a cotton cover. These are pretty basic materials, except for Brooklyn Bedding’s proprietary VariFlex™ transition foam. However, with the quality of construction we see in Brooklyn Bedding mattresses, I’d say the Signature Hybrid is set to last at least eight years.
Brooklyn Bedding claims their beds have a lifespan of 10 years, but since the Signature Hybrid is not among their most expensive beds, I’d say eight years is a good middle ground.
Temperature Regulation / Cooling
4.5/5
Our testing team uses a temperature gun to see just how cooling a mattress is. I first take the initial temperature of the mattress and then measure it again after five minutes of lying in bed. I lie for another five minutes to see if the temperature changes and how much.
Given the number of foam layers and the lack of a cooling cover, Brooklyn Bedding did a good job of regulating temperature. The starting temperature was 70 degrees, which then went up to 77.4 degrees after five minutes and 82.3 degrees after 10 minutes.
I think this bed performed solidly as a temperature-regulating mattress, so it should be good for people who tend to sleep hot.
Bounce
5/5
The bounce in the Signature Hybrid is insane and the springback is instantaneous. I tested this in three ways: jumping on the bed, dropping a lacrosse ball, and dropping a weighted medicine ball. This helped me see how quickly the materials bounce back into shape, which I think will be helpful for sex, so you don’t feel stuck inside the mattress. It should also help combination sleepers and people with limited mobility switch positions and get in and out of bed.
Edge Support
3/5
Our team typically tests edge support by sitting and lying on the edge of the bed for a full minute to see just how supportive the perimeter is. When I tested the Signature Hybrid, I noticed right away that sitting on the edge felt abysmal. I was sliding right off, which is why I gave the bed a lower score in this category. Lying on the edge was more comfortable and supportive, though.
Good edge support is helpful for couples, as it allows them to use the entire surface of the bed. Would I recommend the Signature Hybrid? Yes, but only for sleeping near the edge. Sitting here is a no from me.
Accessibility
4.5/5
When scoring a mattress for accessibility, I look at what exactly it brings to the table. Does it have long policies? Is it particularly good at something like pressure relief or does it have extra features available?
The Signature Hybrid comes with pretty standard policies. The mattress comes in a regular cardboard box, so there’s nothing special there. However, it has handles, which might seem like a small detail, but trust me when I say it helps during setup. Plus, it comes in three firmness options. A cooling top is also available but for an extra fee, which is why I docked it a half point here.
Customer Service
3.5/5
You can reach Brooklyn Bedding’s customer service through a form on their website, email, online chat, and phone. They respond fairly quickly but only during normal business hours.
The Signature Hybrid mattress ships for free, but there’s a 99-dollar return fee, so you’re not really getting a full refund. Shipping to Alaska, Hawaii, and Canada is not free, and the fee is non-refundable should you choose to return the mattress. Despite some less-than-stellar shipping and return fees, I rated the customer service at 3 out of 5 for how reachable and responsive they are.
Performance for Couples
2.5/5
At first sight, the Signature Hybrid has everything couples would need; it has good cooling, plenty of bounce, and a weight capacity of 900 pounds. So, why did I give it a 2.5 out of 5? Even with all its good sides, I think its lack of motion-isolating capabilities would push most couples toward another mattress.
However, if you and your partner have the same sleeping habits and don’t toss and turn at night, you might get away with this bed.
Although this bed should perform well for most heavyweight sleepers, I think heavier couples would still prefer more motion isolation, cooling, and better edge support.

Preference-Based Features
Multiple Firmness Options
The Brooklyn Bedding Signature Hybrid is available in three firmness options: Soft, Medium, and Firm. This allows the sleeper to choose a bed that is more closely catered to their specific needs, including weight and sleep position. I think the medium firmness is the most versatile and should work well for most sleepers.

Additional Size Options
The Brooklyn Bedding Signature Hybrid comes in standard sizes, but there are also many other sizes I don’t see often. I’m talking about RV mattress sizes, as well as Olympic Queen, Short King, and such. Check our price and size table below to see what other sizes there are.
Adjustable Base Compatible
This hybrid is suitable for platforms, slatted frames, box springs, and adjustable bases, though the company suggests choosing frames with little to no flex. In addition, their website includes an option to purchase a foundation designed specifically for this product if you prefer.
Construction: What’s Inside the Brooklyn Bedding Signature Hybrid?
The Brooklyn Bedding Signature Hybrid has a cover made from a breathable cotton blend that’s quilted to foam to create a plush experience that feels soft and luxurious to the touch. The cover on the Firm model is .5 inches thick, and the cover on the Medium and Soft models is 1 inch thick.
Based on the thickness of the individual layers of the bed, the Brooklyn Bedding Signature Hybrid stacks up to 12.25 inches high.
- The quilted top features 1.5 inches of foam, delivering minimal sinkage.
- The comfort layer is 1.5 inches of Supreme Response Comfort Foam, which adjusts to the sleeper so they can be supported in whatever position they choose to sleep in.
- The transition layer is 1 inch of VariFlex™ transition foam, providing deep compression support and comfort. This layer acts as a transition between the foam layers on top and the coils beneath.
- The support layer is comprised of individually encased coils that stand 8 inches thick. This layer should react well to your movements and foster motion isolation, a big plus for those who don’t want to disturb their sleep partner. Additionally, this layer has high-caliber Ascension® coils along the perimeter for added edge support.
- The base layer is made of .25-inch high-density flex foam that supports the upper layers and reinforces the coils above.
Unboxing & Off-Gassing
This mattress is compressed and shipped in a box. Sturdy handles on either side of the mattress should help you move it into position on your bed frame. The bed weighs 60 to 125 pounds, so I recommend an extra pair of hands to help you lift it.
Brooklyn Bedding advises opening the package and placing the mattress on the front of the bed frame immediately. This way, the bed can decompress while on the frame. In most cases, it takes 24 hours for it to decompress entirely. Most customers didn’t notice any strong off-gassing, but you might want to let the bed vent a little if you’re sensitive to odors.
Certifications
- Eco-Friendly Certifications – The foams in this bed are CertiPUR-US® certified, which means they meet rigorous safety standards for harmful substances. The CertiPUR-US® program is a third-party organization that tests foam products to meet strict health and safety standards. A CertiPUR-US® certification means that the foams in the mattresses are not made with ozone depleters, harmful flame retardants, or formaldehyde and have low VOC emissions.
Coupons, Trials, Warranties, and Shipping
Shipping | Shipping is free within the continental United States. Shipping to Alaska, Hawaii, and Canada is also available for an additional $125. This is pretty standard across most mattress companies, as most of them offer free shipping within the continental U.S. only. |
White Glove Delivery | Brooklyn Bedding does not offer white glove delivery. |
Trial | Brooklyn Bedding offers a 120-night at-home sleep trial. Compared to other mattress companies, the 120-night trial is about 20 days shorter, but I still think this is enough time to see if a mattress fits your needs. |
Warranty | The company offers a 10-year warranty on this bed. A 10-year warranty is a standard, although you can come across companies that offer longer deals. |
Return Policy | Returns are easy, but there’s a 99-dollar shipping fee, and you have to keep the mattress for at least 30 days before returning it. |

The Signature Hybrid mattress ships in a box. It’s compressed inside the box and expands once you open it.

Does Brooklyn Bedding sleep hot?
Brooklyn Bedding offers several cooling mattresses that feature excellent temperature-regulating features. The Signature Hybrid has gel infusions and a breathable cover, which I think helps prevent the foam layers from getting too warm. My Verdict of the Brooklyn Bedding Signature Hybrid
After testing the Brooklyn Bedding Signature Hybrid, I’d say this is a reliable, budget-friendly hybrid that could be worth it to many shoppers. It’s made from quality materials and has medium firmness, which I think should work for most people. Plus, you get a 120-night trial to test it out.
I tested it out in multiple categories, and it performed above average in many of them. However, it does leave a bit to be desired when it comes to edge support and motion isolation, which can be a problem for some couples and co-sleepers.
The Signature Hybrid’s price point is particularly impressive, considering you can choose from three firmness options. Overall, this bed earned a 4 out of 5.
