MLILY is the company made to “fit the sleeping needs of a world-class athlete,” partnering with the English soccer team Manchester United. Luckily, their beds are now available to everyone, not just English soccer players.

The series features six mattresses with multiple material options. The idea is to provide a bed for many specific needs. 

Our team tested the MLILY Fusion Luxe mattress, focusing on its performance, feel, firmness, and preference-based features such as motion isolation, bounce, cooling, and more. We used our unique scoring system to help sleepers decide whether this MLily mattress is the right option for them. 

Who We Recommend The MLILY Fusion Luxe For: 

• Couples – This hybrid mattress has reinforced edges that provide excellent edge support for couples and co-sleepers. It also offers decent motion transfer, which most partners with different sleeping habits should appreciate. 
• Athletes and active people – This product was designed for athletes, so anyone who’s active should benefit from its medium-soft firmness and pressure-relieving capabilities.
• People who want a luxury mattress – We think the Fusion Luxe is a good mattress for luxury shoppers as it contours the body to provide that cozy feel. However, there’s also the pocketed coil system and the temperature-regulating technology that helps keep you cool throughout the night. 

Who We Don’t Recommend The MLILY Fusion Luxe For: 

• Budget shoppers – This bed is more expensive due to its many luxurious features. Compared to other bed-in-a-box mattresses, the Fusion Luxe may not be the best for budget shoppers. However, the company offers several other models at more affordable prices. 
• Heavy stomach sleepers – Heavy stomach sleepers may find this hybrid mattress too soft. Stomach sleepers over 230 pounds typically need a firmer mattress to prevent lower back pain, which is why we think they may not like sleeping on the Fusion Luxe.

First Impressions: Firmness & Feel

Firmness Scale: 5/10

Please remember that firmness is a subjective characteristic and your shape will dictate how you experience a bed. A heavier person whose weight can more easily push through softer comfort and support layers may experience a bed as softer than a lightweight person. The way you are shaped could also play a role here. Consider your weight, shape, and size when evaluating firmness scores.

We use a firmness scale to explain how firm or soft a certain mattress is. When it comes to Fusion Luxe, we believe it’s a true medium plush mattress, landing at a 5 out of 10 on our firmness scale. 

Although it’s right in the middle of our scale, the mattress has a softer feel. Most people should experience it as softer, enjoying its deep hug and pressure-relieving capabilities. However, the softness doesn’t take away from the support as this mattress is made for athletes, meaning that support is critical. The top layers allow a comfortable sink, whereas the coils ensure your body is properly aligned.

How Does It Feel? 

Three soft yet supportive foam layers lie underneath the cool, stretchy knit cover. The top comfort layer allows a deep hug while the second layer gives a bit of a bounce as it resembles latex. 

The pocketed coils ensure more bounce from within the mattress, giving the bed an overall quick response. We found it easy to switch positions on this bed, even with its soft memory foam. 

What We Like About the MLILY Fusion Luxe

• Versatile firmness – Although this bed is considered to be on the softer side, we think its firmness should work for most people. It may not fit the heaviest stomach sleepers, but many people should enjoy its deep hug and support just fine.
• Bouncy construction – This mattress has plenty of bounce, so we’d consider it an excellent option for sexually active couples and people with mobility issues. The bounce comes from nearly all layers, including the latex-like comfort layer and the coils.
• Cooling – This mattress has several temperature-regulating features that prevent overheating commonly tied to memory foam beds. There’s gel infusion, an open-cell structure, a cool-to-the-touch cover, and coils that allow plenty of airflow.

Our MLILY Fusion Luxe Complaints

• No trial – Almost all online mattress brands offer a trial for customers to test how they like their products. Unfortunately, the Fusion Luxe is not one of them. They don’t accept returns, which is quite a drawback, given the price of the mattress. 
• It’s pricey – While a limited budget may not be an obstacle for everyone, not everyone wants to spend thousands on a new mattress. Although this bed comes with all the bells and whistles and is a worthy investment, we think it may be a bit too expensive for some. 
• Not ideal for all stomach sleepers – The Fusion Luxe offers plenty of support, but stomach sleepers over 230 pounds may sink too deeply to keep their hips aligned. Additionally, some average-size stomach sleepers closer to 230 pounds may prefer a firmer choice.

Sleeping Positions for Different Body Types

MLILY says the weight limit of all their mattresses is around 700 pounds. This means it’s best to keep it at around 350 pounds on each side of the bed. However, let’s not forget its softer nature that may not fit heavier people. Our team tested the bed in all positions, but it’s always important to consider your weight, preferred sleeping position, and body shape to determine whether this bed will fit your needs.

Side Sleepers

• Lightweight Sleepers – We think lightweight side sleepers may be the best match for the Fusion Luxe mattress. The soft comfort layers provide a deep hug, helping to relieve pressure in the hips, knees, and shoulders.
• Average-Weight Sleepers – Average-weight side sleepers should experience a balance of pressure relief and support. Some may sink deeper, but thanks to an even weight distribution, the spine should remain neutral. 
• Heavyweight Sleepers – Heavy side sleepers may experience more sinkage, but this shouldn’t be a problem for sleepers who love softer beds. 

Back Sleepers

• Lightweight Sleepers – Lightweight back sleepers should feel the memory foam comfort layer contouring to the small of their back. They may not weigh enough to experience a deep hug, but even with that, there should be enough pressure relief.
• Average-Weight Sleepers – We think the Fusion Luxe is a good option for average-weight back sleepers, although some may sink deeper than others. The coils help ensure there’s an even weight distribution, while the foams work to relieve pain in the lower back. 
• Heavyweight Sleepers – We think heavy back sleepers who prefer softer beds should like the Fusion Luxe mattress. However, those well over 300 pounds who prefer firmer mattresses may want to consider another MILY model. 

Stomach Sleepers

• Lightweight Sleepers – Stomach sleepers under 130 pounds are likely to experience this bed as firmer. Their hips should stay aligned since they don’t weigh enough to sink deeply into the softer comfort layers. 
• Average-Weight Sleepers – Stomach sleepers 130 to 230 pounds are likely to experience a balance of pressure relief and support, but this depends on their exact weight. We expect those closer to 230 pounds may want a firmer bed.
• Heavyweight Sleepers – We think stomach sleepers over 230 pounds would do better with a firmer mattress that offers more support and less sinkage for the hips in this position.

Softer beds usually do better when it comes to pressure relief, so we weren’t surprised to see how comfortable the Fusion Luxe is. This medium plush mattress offers a deep hug, starting with the Gel AeroFusion® memory foam, followed by Adaptifoam®.

These two proprietary materials hug the body, cradling joints and sensitive areas to ensure pressure doesn’t build up regardless of your sleeping position. Although it’s a hybrid, the MLILY Fusion Luxe has three plush foam layers that help with pressure relief. 

Is the MLILY Fusion Luxe Mattress Good for Pain Relief? 

People with back, hip, or shoulder pain need to be careful when choosing a mattress. Most of them focus on pressure relief, but let’s not forget the importance of a good support system that helps keep the body aligned. 

Softer beds such as the Fusion Luxe offer plenty of cradling and relief for the achy joints. However, this bed doesn’t lack support thanks to its pocketed springs. That being said, it may not offer enough support for heavier sleepers, particularly those who sleep on their stomach.

Back Pain   

Back pain can make it difficult to sleep if your mattress doesn’t support your body in a proper alignment. The MLILY Fusion Luxe is a softer mattress, so it’s important to consider how it may feel for back sleeping according to your weight. In general, we think it could help with back pain as its foams hug the body, supporting the small of your back while keeping the body aligned. 

Hip Pain 

The Fusion Luxe mattress is an excellent option for people with hip pain as it offers a deep hug and cradling for sensitive areas. The foams should let you sink just enough so that the mattress doesn’t create new pressure and tension on the hips. We think its softness should allow people with hip pain to sleep on their side and back.

Shoulder Pain 

We think those with shoulder pain should like the Fusion Luxe just as much. The medium plush construction works to hug the sensitive areas without taking away from the support. You should experience your shoulders nicely cradled without too much sinkage that could throw the spine out of alignment. 

When it comes to support, we noticed that Fusion Luxe performs very well. Hybrid and innerspring mattresses usually have excellent support systems thanks to the coils used in their construction. 

Back sleepers should feel their weight is evenly distributed, with all body parts equally supported. The same goes for side sleepers, who may get more pressure relief and sinkage, but the support is still there to keep the body aligned. 

Stomach sleepers should experience comfort and spine alignment, but this is only for those under 130 pounds. We don’t think this MLILY mattress is supportive enough for heavier stomach sleepers. 

Motion transfer is important for couples and co-sleepers sharing their mattress with restless partners, kids, or pets. Movement can interrupt your sleep, especially if you’re a light sleeper. 

Mattresses with coils can sometimes not perform as well when it comes to motion isolation because they’re on the bouncy side. However, even with the bounce this mattress provides, we think it still did a good job of isolating motion. This is probably due to the many memory foam layers above the individually pocketed coil system.

Memory foam isn’t always the best choice for hot sleepers as it tends to retain heat. However, the Fusion Luxe mattress is unlikely to make you sleep hot thanks to its cooling features. The first thing we should mention is the cool-to-the-touch cover with cooling technology that prevents the heat from building up on the mattress surface. 

Next, there’s gel-infused AreoFusion® memory foam that pulls the heat away from you. The AdaptiFoam® underneath has an open-cell structure to allow the air to pass through to the coils, which also helps enhance this bed’s breathability. Also, the coils deliver extra airflow throughout the construction.

Bounce is where it’s really at when it comes to this hybrid mattress by MLILY. The Fusion Luxe has individually wrapped coils that allow plenty of bounce from within the construction. However, there’s more to it, thanks to the latex-like comfort layer that gives more bounce closer to the surface. Even with memory foam on top, you can feel the response is generally faster than in traditional memory foam mattresses. 

Coiled mattresses usually have good edge support, but let’s not forget the foam layers in the Fusion Luxe bed. When we tested edge support in this hybrid, we noticed it performs very well, even with the foam on top. The reason for this is the added high-density polyfoam in the perimeter that ensures the edges don’t collapse even when you sit or lie in the area. 

Edge support would be even better with coils at the perimeter, but we’d say even the polyfoam, in this case, makes a difference. 

After reviewing the MLILY Fusion Luxe mattress, we think it’s safe to say it’s a good option for couples. Most couples and co-sleepers look for bounce and motion isolation, both of which they can find in this hybrid mattress. 

You’re unlikely to feel much of your partner’s tossing and turning thanks to the foams isolating most of the movement. On top of that, there’s plenty of cooling and edge support, allowing couples to keep cool and use the full surface of the mattress.

Construction: What’s Inside the MLILY Fusion Luxe? 

The first thing that stands out is the removable knit cover made from spandex, polyester, and polyethylene. Polyethylene is a phase-change material that helps keep you cool in summer and warm in the winter. The cover feels soft and it has a nice stretch to it to ensure durability. 

This bed is 12.5 inches tall, featuring three foam layers on top of pocketed coils. 

• The comfort layer is a layer of AeroFusion™ memory foam infused with gel to keep the material from overheating. This layer provides a deep hug without making you feel too warm. 
• The second layer is AdaptiFoam™ which has motion isolation of memory foam and bounce that resembles latex. This layer has an open-cell structure to enhance breathability. 
• The transition layer is a firmer polyfoam that acts as a transition between the comfort layers and the springs. It ensures there’s enough bounce from the coils without letting you bottom out.
• The support layer has individually wrapped coils in seven zones that react differently to your body. The zones help distribute your weight so that you don’t sink deeper in your heaviest zones. 
• The base layer serves as a base for the mattress, made of 1.5 inches of Flex Support foam. This gives something for the coils to push off of and adds some overall support.

Unboxing & Off-Gassing

As mentioned, the company ships this mattress in a box, so it’s easier to move around than if it were delivered full-size. Once you remove it from the packaging, it takes only a few minutes for the mattress to expand to its full size. 

When it comes to off-gassing, it’s important to note that it’s common for memory foam beds, especially bed-in-a-box ones. However, we didn’t notice any strong odors. If you do, don’t worry as these odors are normal and will dissipate.

• Eco-Friendly Certifications – This product was certified by OEKO-TEX®, which evaluates textiles at all processing levels for acceptable levels of hazardous chemicals and flame retardants. The foams in this bed are also CertiPUR-US® certified. CertiPUR-US® is a third-party program that ensures the foams meet rigorous health and safety standards. This means they don’t contain harmful substances like ozone depleters, PBDEs, heavy metals, formaldehyde, and phthalates. They should also have low volatile organic compound (VOC) emissions.

Our Verdict 

MLILY’s Fusion Luxe is a medium-plush hybrid with coils and memory foam. We think it’s a good match for side and back sleepers, but it can also work for some lighter-weight stomach sleepers. 

The Fusion Luxe is on the more expensive side, but we believe it offers a lot of value. First, there’s motion isolation, pressure relief, and bounce. Second, it’s excellent for athletes and hot sleepers. Despite these advantages, you’ll have to be sure to want it because it doesn’t come with a trial. Overall, it earned a 4.2 out of 5.
