• Lightweight side sleepers – Some side sleepers under 130 pounds may find this bed a bit too firm for good pressure relief .. Similarly, we think that side sleepers with hip or shoulder pain may do better with the OkiOki OkiSoft mattress, which has a softer, more forgiving feel to it.

We score mattress firmness from 1 to 10, with 1 being the softest and 10 being the firmest. After reviewing the OkiEasy mattress, we think it falls at 7 out of 10 on our firmness scale, meaning it has a slightly firm feel. 

One thing to keep in mind is that the company has multiple firmness options, and OkiEasy is their second softest. Also, the feel of the bed may change within the first month, as the company claims the fibers can take up to a month to loosen to their right softness level.

How Does It Feel? 

The first thing we noticed when testing the OkiEasy mattress was its cool-to-the-touch cover. However, there is some heat buildup the longer you lie on the bed, but we think the material does a good job of dissipating it and staying cool for the most part. 

When lying on the OkiEasy, you’ll feel the first few layers offer contouring support and a gentle cradling sensation. Despite the mattress’s memory foam construction, it has some responsiveness to it, which makes it easier to reposition — but none of the bounce you’d get from latex or other materials.

What We Like About the OkiOki OkiEasy

• Versatile firmness – Although the OkiEasy is on the firmer end of our scale, we still think its firmness level should work for most people. Average-weight and heavy people should like its firmer feel, and we think it may also work for some lightweight back and stomach sleepers.
• Excellent motion isolation – This mattress has two foam layers on top of its coil system, so it does a pretty good job of isolating motion to one side. It may also be the fact that the coils are individually wrapped to further prevent motion transfer, but overall, we think it performs above average in this category for a mattress with coils.

• Too firm for lightweight sleepers – People under 130 pounds, specifically side sleepers, might find this mattress a bit too firm. OkiOki recommends this mattress for couples weighing up to 600 pounds, which means about 300 pounds per side. 

Since it has a firmer feel, it might not work for all lightweight sleepers, especially those with shoulder pain. On the other hand, it should work well for most average-weight people and some heavy sleepers who enjoy sleeping on their backs.

Side Sleepers

• Lightweight Sleepers – Lightweight side sleepers might not weigh enough to activate this bed’s comfort layers for full pressure relief. While it may work for those who prefer firmer beds, we think most lightweight side sleepers should look at OkiOki’s softer models. 
• Average-Weight Sleepers – Average-weight side sleepers should get a balance of pressure relief and support. The OkiEasy’s memory foam layers do a good job of contouring the pressure points, while the innerspring coils ensure proper spine alignment.

• Lightweight Sleepers – Lightweight back sleepers who prefer firmer beds should love the OkiEasy model. The hybrid is on the firmer side, but its memory foam does a good job of cradling the body and contouring the small of your back to prevent pain. 
• Average-Weight Sleepers – Back sleepers between 130 and 230 pounds should experience just enough sinkage for good pressure relief around the lower back. However, we think the mattress’ firmer feel should prevent the hips from sinking too deep into it.
• Heavyweight Sleepers – Heavy back sleepers should feel well-supported, even given the fact that their hips will sink a bit more into the mattress. The firmer feel of the OkiEasy should keep the spine aligned without creating any pressure. 

Stomach Sleepers

• Lightweight Sleepers – Stomach sleepers need maximum support, and the OkiEasy provides just that for sleepers who weigh less than 130 pounds. This group should experience the bed as even firmer than a heavier sleeper might, and we feel that it does a good job of keeping their hips aligned with their shoulders. 
• Average-Weight Sleepers – Average-weight stomach sleepers should like the gentle cradling feel of the OkiEasy, but some sleepers will sink a bit deeper into the mattress around the hips, depending on their weight. 
• Heavyweight Sleepers – Although the OkiEasy mattress might work for some stomach sleepers over 230 pounds, we think many would be better off with a firmer OkiOki mattress. 

This is OkiOki’s second softest mattress, with the OkiSoft being the brand’s softest model. However, despite this, the OkiEasy is still on the firmer side and lands at about a 7 out of 10 on our firmness scale. This hybrid has two foam layers above the coils, so there’s plenty of comfort and pressure relief before the supportive core below. 

The high-density foams gently cradle and contour your body to relieve pressure in the hips, knees, and shoulders. However, lightweight side sleepers and those with hip or shoulder pain might want an even softer model. 

Is the OkiOki OkiEasy Mattress Good for Pain Relief? 

Hybrids are generally good for pain relief because they combine support and pressure relief by bringing together the best qualities of innerspring and memory foam models. We think the OkiEasy is a good choice for those looking to relieve pain in the lower back, shoulders, and hips, depending on your weight and body shape. 

Since the mattress might be too firm for lightweight side sleepers, it likely won’t be as effective for relieving shoulder and hip pain for those who fall into this group.

Back Pain 

People with back pain usually prefer firmer beds to find the support they need to keep the back well aligned. For this reason, we think the OkiEasy mattress is a good choice if you struggle with back pain. The mattress’ foam layers allow enough sinkage to lightly contour the small of your back while the innerspring coils beneath keep the body aligned to prevent back pain from further developing.

Hip Pain 

Back sleepers with hip pain should enjoy the OkiEasy’s medium to slightly firm feel, which keeps the hips aligned with the shoulders. However, side and stomach sleepers with hip pain should first confirm whether the mattress is a good fit for their body weight and shape. Average-weight and heavy side sleepers will likely sink far enough into the mattress to find pain relief, whereas lightweight side sleepers with hip pain might want a softer bed.

Shoulder Pain 

Shoulder pain is of a similar concern level to hip pain when it comes to side sleeping because they’re the two body parts that make the most contact with the mattress. While this hybrid should do a nice job of relieving shoulder pressure and pain for sleepers over 130 pounds, it might not do anything for those under 130 pounds. Back sleepers with shoulder pain should appreciate how it contours the upper body gently while keeping the shoulders and hips aligned. 

Hybrids combine support and pressure relief — particularly when they have a firmer feel with foams that don’t allow for too much sinkage. Although the OkiEasy is the second softest mattress from OkiOki, its overall feel is still on the firmer side for most people. That said, our testing finds that the mattress still provides supreme support for back, side, and stomach sleeping. 

The coils are individually wrapped to move independently and follow your body’s curves to support the heaviest parts. The memory foam layers are constructed with high-density foam to ensure a gentle cradle that won’t cause you to bottom out.

Like many hybrid mattresses, the OkiEasy bed does a good job of isolating motion. The coils inside the mattress that provide the most bounce are individually wrapped, and there are two foam layers on top to further dampen the effects of weight on the mattress’s surface. 

After lying on one side of the bed, we did notice a bit of movement when we applied weight to the other side as a test; however, the effect was minimal and unlikely to disrupt your sleep. Overall, the bed performs above average at limiting motion transfer, especially given its hybrid construction. 

We think the OkiOki OkiEasy mattress should work for most hot sleepers thanks to its cool-to-the-touch cover. Although we noticed a bit of heat building up, the cover does a quick job of dissipating it quickly. 

The hybrid construction of the mattress also helps. Innerspring layers are known to be breathable and cool due to the coils allowing plenty of airflow. If you’re an extremely hot sleeper, however, we suggest a mattress with fewer memory foam layers or additional cooling features.

Despite its innerspring coils, the OkiEasy is not a bouncy bed. We noticed minimal bounce due to the dampening effect of its memory foam top layers. The mattress’s coils are also individually wrapped, which helps isolate motion and bounce coming from deep within the mattress. Although the OkiEasy’s overall lack of bounce works well for light sleepers, it might be a drawback for combination sleepers, sexually active couples, and people with mobility issues who need a bit of bounce for easy repositioning. 

Hybrids with coils tend to do well when it comes to edge support. However, bed-in-a-box mattresses struggle in this category because the type of end-to-end sturdiness that contributes to good edge support is harder to engineer in mattresses that need to be shipped this way.

The OkiEasy does well in this department because it doesn’t have too much compressive foam that can lead to sagging around the edges. We found the hybrid’s foams are firmer and of higher density, so you shouldn’t have any issues sitting or sleeping near the side of the bed.

How well a mattress works for couples depends on the preferences of you and your partner. Some couples prefer bouncier beds, whereas others focus more on motion isolation to ensure everyone gets good, undisturbed sleep. 

We think the OkiEasy should work well for most couples who love a firmer mattress with good motion isolation and edge support. If you’re unsure about the mattress, you can always do a test run, given that it comes with a 365-night trial.

Construction: What’s Inside the OkiOki OkiEasy?

The OkiEasy’s hybrid construction has a cooling cover with IceYarn technology that ensures temperature regulation. The cover is hypoallergenic and easy to remove for a quick wash in the washing machine. 

Beneath that, the OkiEasy mattress has four layers, three of which are made from memory foam. Sandwiched between the transition and base layer is an innerspring layer made of individually wrapped coils. The entire mattress, together with the cover, stands at 11 inches tall.

• The comfort layer features 2 inches of memory foam that contours to your body to relieve pressure in the hips, knees, and shoulders without too much sinkage that could potentially throw your body out of alignment.

Unboxing & Off-Gassing

The OkiEasy comes in a box, so it should be relatively easy to move around. However, the box can be heavy—it took two people from our team to position the mattress on our mattress foundation, so we recommend recruiting a family member or a friend to help you out. All you have to do is remove the packaging and allow the mattress to unroll on its own. This can take anywhere from a few hours to a day or two. Just note that the company says the fibers inside the mattress may take even longer to reach their rightful firmness. 

When it comes to off-gassing, it’s important to note that the foams in this bed are certified as free from any harmful substances, so any odor you notice is likely due to the packaging method.
