Nolah Evolution Comfort+ Performance Ratings
Watch My Nolah Evolution Comfort+ Video Review
Who I Recommend The Nolah Evolution Comfort+ Mattress For:
- Heavyweight sleepers – This bed was designed specifically for heavier people, and it does a knockout job in this department. Nolah has designed the Evolution Comfort+ so that it has both welcoming softness and exceptional support.
- All sleep positions – A mattress that works for all sleep positions is somewhat of a rarity, but I think that back, stomach, side, and combination sleepers will be comfortable on this bed.
- People with back pain – The Nolah Evolution Comfort+ is constructed with both pressure-relieving foams and supportive coils that promote spinal alignment. If you experience back pain, this mattress could help soothe your aches and pains.
Who I Don’t Recommend The Nolah Evolution Comfort+ Mattress For:
- Hot sleepers – Although this bed has some cooling features, if you are prone to getting hot during the night, this may not be your best choice. It didn’t make me hot, but I didn’t notice a lot of cooling prowess.
- Budget shoppers – The Evolution Comfort+ is made with multiple layers of quality materials, and while I think it is worth the cost, I also understand that it may put it out of some people’s price range. With this being said, there are plenty of great budget-friendly mattresses available.
Customer Reviews of the Nolah Evolution Comfort+ Mattress
The Nolah Evolution Comfort+ rates 4.8 stars out of 5 on Nolah’s website. Some customers have mentioned how the Comfort+ gives them some cradling while remaining supportive, with several people praising this bed for alleviating their back pain.
Testing the Nolah Evolution Comfort+ Mattress
Sleep Advisor’s Testing Methodology
At Sleep Advisor, we use a hands-on mattress testing approach in which we analyze features such as firmness, how supportive it is, and whether it will keep you cool throughout the night — to name a few. Since people come in different sizes and sleep in different positions, we also look at how it feels in multiple positions and whether it could cater to various body types.

Firmness & Feel
Firmness Scale: 5/10 (Plush Soft)
Please remember that firmness is a subjective characteristic and your shape will dictate how you experience a bed. A heavier person whose weight can more easily push through softer comfort and support layers may experience a bed as softer than a lightweight person. The way you are shaped could also play a role here. Consider your weight, shape, and size when evaluating firmness scores.
When I learned that this bed was designed for bigger sleepers, I expected it to be firm. Upon finding out that it was actually fairly soft, I thought there was a chance it wouldn’t be supportive enough. I was wrong on both accounts.
Moreover, the plush firmness combined with supportive coils allowed this bed to work for a variety of people and preferred sleep positions. This is not easy to accomplish, and it may make it more universally appealing than firmer mattresses that don’t cradle you when you sleep. I rated this bed’s firmness a 5 out of 10 based on our firmness scale, which is right in the middle.
How Does It Feel?
As soon as I plopped down on this bed, I was taken aback by the gentle softness of the Euro top. As I began to move about, I was equally impressed with how the bed supported me in each sleep position that I tried, as well as how it seemed to work for different body types. Overall, it feels like being wrapped in a gentle yet solid hug.
Sleeping Positions for Different Body Types
The Nolah Evolution Comfort+ was designed with heavyweight sleepers in mind, and it can support up to 1,000 pounds.
Side Sleepers
- Lightweight Sleepers – A combination of spinal alignment and soft contouring around the hips and shoulders makes this a great pick for lightweight side sleepers.
- Average-Weight Sleepers – A bed that has outstanding spinal support and pressure relief, as this one does, makes it a great fit for average-weight side sleepers.
- Heavyweight Sleepers – The Evolution Comfort+ foam layers should stay soft and contour around pressure points as the coils help keep the spine aligned. Heavyweight side sleepers should find quality sleep with this mattress.
Back Sleepers
- Lightweight Sleepers – For back sleepers on the lighter end of the scale, this mattress should feel very plush around the body. The foam acts as a cushion for the spine, while the coils provide support.
- Average-Weight Sleepers – When I tested this sleep position, I enjoyed the sink. It allowed me to feel cozy, but I never felt stuck.
- Heavyweight Sleepers – Although a firmer mattress may provide slightly better support and weight distribution, for a softer bed, the Nolah Evolution Comfort+ does a fantastic job.
Stomach Sleepers
- Lightweight Sleepers – I was pleasantly surprised with how well this mattress tested for lightweight stomach sleepers as it was designed for heavier people. However, lighter sleepers should experience excellent lumbar support when sleeping on their stomachs.
- Average-Weight Sleepers – Given the soft Euro top and memory foam layers, I expected that my spine would sag and curve because my hips were dipping too far into the mattress, but this didn’t happen. Stomach sleepers often don’t get to feel both supported and as if they are being hugged when using a softer mattress.
- Heavyweight Sleepers – Stomach sleepers who weigh more will likely sink a bit more, but that is to be expected. However, despite experiencing a little more sinkage than their lightweight and average-weight counterparts, heavyweight stomach sleepers should still feel that their hips are elevated and their spine is aligned.
Pressure Relief
5/5
If you are looking for a bed that will help melt away the tension of the day and prevent pressure from building up through the night, you will definitely want to consider the Evolution Comfort+. Although this bed was specifically designed for heavyweight sleepers, which can sometimes mean that it will be too firm for those who are lighter, that is not the case with this bed. I think a large percentage of sleepers will find exceptional pressure relief on this Nolah model.

Is the Nolah Evolution Comfort+ Mattress Good for Pain Relief?
The Evolution Comfort+ is designed with support and pressure relief in mind, and these two features typically make a mattress good at handling pain relief. I was pleased with how well the softer foam layers cradled my joints, but before I could sink into an uncomfortable position, these layers were met by the supportive and targeted coils. I felt no tension around f my joints, and as such, I think this mattress can be a great fit for people with a variety of aches and pains.
Back Pain
The zoned and individually wrapped coils provide excellent support for a host of body types and preferred sleep positions. This will help keep spines aligned and hips elevated, which is a great way to alleviate back pain.
Hip Pain
If you’re experiencing hip pain, you’ll want a mattress that’s going to either alleviate it or prevent it from occurring altogether. This is especially true for side sleepers, who put more weight on their hips in this posture.
In some cases, pain can occur around this area if a mattress allows your hips to dip too far down in the bed. Other times, the bed is so firm that you don’t get any cushioning against the hips. However, Nolah’s Evolution Comfort+ offers a combination of hip-elevating support and contouring plushness, which can give your hips a double dose of relief.
Shoulder Pain
The small joint of a shoulder can bear a lot of weight through the night, especially if you’re a side sleeper, and this can cause pain if you’re not sleeping on the right mattress. Fortunately, this bed’s foam layers should help in this matter because it will provide ample pressure relief around this area.
Support
5/5
Nolah stated that they made this mattress with support in mind, and after testing it out, it was clear to me that they were serious about this mission.
The Evolution Comfort+ was designed for heavier sleepers who may find it challenging to get a bed that properly supports them. Often when they do find a mattress that is supportive enough, it is a very firm bed and may not offer much in the way of comfort. This is great if you like extra firmness, but if you are a heavyweight sleeper who prefers a soft cradle when you sleep, you should be able to have that option without the concern of sagging into your mattress.
However, with this bed, you can have softness and support.
Motion Transfer
4/5
I use a seismograph app to test how much motion is transferred from one side of the bed to the other. This allows me to gauge how likely a partner’s or pet’s movements will transfer to the other side of the bed, which could potentially be disruptive to sleep.
Although my measuring tool detected some motion, it was slight. Considering that I was putting effort into my bouncing and rolling, I was pleased with how the foam of the Evolution Comfort+ isolated motion to my side of the bed.
Temperature Regulation / Cooling
3/5
Although there are several cooling materials, including Nolah’s proprietary ArcticTex™, AirFoam™ HD, and a gusset that maximizes airflow, used in this mattress, temperature regulation wasn’t a standout feature for me. It wasn’t cool to the touch, and it didn’t seem to have as many cooling features as the Nolah Evolution.
As part of my testing, I used a temperature gun. The initial mattress temperature was 71.8 degrees Fahrenheit, and after five minutes of lying on the bed, it went up to 77.6 degrees. However, it took over five minutes for the Comfort+ to go back down to its original temperature.
Bounce
4/5
For a softer mattress, the spring-back from the coils on the Nolah Evolution Comfort+ was swift. Granted, it wasn’t as instantaneous as a truly firm mattress, but for those who like a softer feel to their bed and want to reposition with ease, this might be a solid choice. Furthermore, sexually active couples should have little to worry about when it comes to feeling stuck in a bed during times of intimacy.
Edge Support
3/5
The edge support of the Evolution Comfort+ left me a little perplexed. I was securely held on the mattress when I was lying or sitting near the edge. However, I didn’t feel like I was. The Euro top seemed to give way as I sank further down, but then it was as the reinforced perimeter of the coil layer sprung up as a guardrail that kept me from toppling over.
Performance for Couples
4/5
This bed has a lot of attractive features for couples. I was partial to the motion isolation and responsiveness of this bed.
If you’re woken up by a co-sleeper’s nocturnal twists and turns, you may be on the hunt for a mattress with good motion isolation. While some movement was detected, it was nothing major — especially for as abruptly as I was moving about.
Another couple-centric feature of this bed is that it quickly bounces back after weight has been applied to it. This could be particularly important to sexually active bedmates. However, the edge support was not as exceptional as I would have liked for those who share a bed and want to utilize all the surface area without feeling as if they could fall.

Preference-Based Features
Reinforced Edge Support
The coil layer sports a reinforced perimeter that enhances edge support. This is an important feature if you have mobility issues or prefer to sleep at the edge of the bed.
Adjustable Base Compatible
The Nolah Evolution Comfort+ pairs well with adjustable bases.
Construction: What’s Inside the Nolah Evolution Comfort+?
The Nolah Evolution Comfort+ is constructed to support up to 1,000 pounds. It casts a luxurious shadow with its 14-inch profile and quilted Euro top. Although it was designed for heavier sleepers, I think that it can be a great fit for a variety of sizes.
- The organic cotton cover has ArcticTex™ fibers woven. This provides a soft and cool point of contact.
- The fibers of the cover pull body heat to the 2-inch high-thermal conductivity foam Euro topper, where it’s then dissolved. It also acts as a cradling entry into the mattress’s supportive layers.
- Below the Euro topper, there is a 4-inch AirBorder™ gusset that promotes air circulation. This layer of the bed allows body heat to escape instead of being trapped inside.
- Between the AirBorder™ and the coils, you’ll find three layers that add up to 4 inches of foam. This includes a layer of 2-inch AirFoam™ HD that provides additional cooling, as well as pressure relief and stability. This is followed by an inch of sag-resistant CertiPUR-US® foam and one more layer of a 1-inch -thick flexible foam that adds bounce.
- These foam layers rest atop 8-inch lower-gauge coils that are grouped into three targeted zones. Nolah individually wraps the coils to help with flexibility and motion isolation. This section of the mattress also has reinforced perimeter coils that enhance edge support.
- The coils rest on a durable foundation of recycled plant fiber that helps provide overall stability.
Unboxing & Off-Gassing
After you remove your Evolution Comfort+ from the box and unroll it, you’re likely to notice a chemical smell. Although this can be unpleasant, it will dissipate fairly quickly. You can speed up this process by opening windows or placing the mattress in a well-ventilated room.
Certifications
- CertiPUR-US® certified: The foams in this bed are CertiPUR-US® certified. CertiPUR-US® is a third-party program that ensures the foams meet rigorous health and safety standards. This means they don’t contain harmful substances like ozone depleters, PBDEs, heavy metals, formaldehyde, and phthalates. They should also have low volatile organic compound (VOC) emissions.

- Optional accident protection is available for the Nolah Evolution Comfort+.

Frequently Asked Questions
Can you flip the Nolah Evolution Comfort+?
No, the Nolah Evolution Comfort+ is designed so that it should only be slept on one side, the one with the Euro top at the surface. The bottom base layers would be hard and uncomfortable if you attempted to sleep on them. Furthermore, it could compromise the structure of the bed.
What kind of foam does Nolah use in its manufacturing?
Nolah developed a proprietary form of memory foam that they call AirFoam™. It was designed to have outstanding durability. Unlike other memory foams that can trap heat, AirFoam™ is aerated and has other temperature-regulating properties to help keep sleepers cool throughout the night.
Does the Nolah Evolution Comfort+ have a sleep trial?
Yes, you will have 120 nights to sleep on the Nolah Evolution Comfort+ to make sure it is the right choice for you. If it isn’t, you can return it during the trial period for a full refund, minus $99 for the pickup of your mattress. Also, if you are certain that you will be keeping the Nolah Evolution Comfort+, you can opt out of the mattress trial and save $70.

My Verdict
The Nolah Evolution Comfort+ was designed with heavyweight sleepers in mind, but I think that it will be a comfortable and supportive choice for sleepers of all body types. Furthermore, this bed works well for back, stomach, side, and combination sleepers.
Although it’s not perfect, the Evolution Comfort+ is certainly a rare gem in that it provides support and comfort for people from one end of the scale to the other. This bed earned a 4.1 out of 5 overall rating, and I think that it is definitely worth considering if you are in the market for a new mattress.
