The Nectar brand was founded with the intention of providing the “most comfortable mattress.” The company has been known in the bedding market for their high-quality memory foam mattresses. Their three memory foam staples include the Nectar, Nectar Premier, and Nectar Premier Copper.
While the Nectar is their flagship model, the Premier and Premier Copper are upgraded versions, offering varying benefits to sleepers. That raises the question, then, as to which one you should get. I tested these beds alongside my teammate Loren Bullock, and we’re here to bring you the good, the bad, and the ugly.

Sleep Advisor’s Testing Methodology
If you look at our video comparison, you can see just how much fun we have testing these mattresses. However, we’re serious about the factors we’re testing, which often include pressure relief, support, edge support, cooling, motion isolation, and more. On top of that, we also test how each bed feels in different positions.
We also utilize certain testing tools, such as a temperature gun, seismograph for motion isolation, and pressure maps to get more thorough data on how each bed performs in important categories for consumers. All of our testing helps us know what beds could work for certain sleepers so you can make an informed, unbiased decision.

Who I’d Recommend the Nectar For
- Value seekers – The Nectar is going to be the cheapest option, making it a valuable find for those on a tighter budget.
- People who enjoy a true memory foam feel – We found that the Nectar has the slowest response of the three mattresses, offering the most traditional memory foam experience that lets you feel like you’re sinking into the bed.
- Sleepers who want something slightly firmer – Loren and I rated the Nectar’s firmness 6.5 out of 10, which means it offers a slightly firmer feel than the Premier and Premier Copper.
Nectar Premier Mattress
Nectar Premier is a remarkably comfortable mattress at a reasonable price point. We think it’s an excellent buy for side sleepers and couples looking to stay cool through warm nights.

Who I’d Recommend the Nectar Premier For
- Solo sleepers – The Nectar Premier didn’t perform as strong for edge support, which could be an issue for couples who need extra surface space. However, if you sleep alone, this shouldn’t be as much of a concern.
- People who want motion isolation – We used a seismograph to test this bed’s motion isolation and were quite impressed. You’re unlikely to feel any major movement from a partner tossing and turning.
- People seeking good pressure relief in the hips and shoulders – When testing the Nectar Premier, we found that it does an exceptional job of relieving tension in the hips and shoulders.

Who I’d Recommend the Nectar Premier Copper For
- Extra-hot sleepers – The Nectar Premier Copper has the most advanced cooling features of the three beds, so if you’re an extra-hot sleeper, this will be the choice for you.
- Those who share a bed – With a 14-inch profile, this model is the sturdiest of the three, making it the best selection for anyone sharing their bed, such as couples or those who often have their pets sleeping on the bed with them.
- Luxury shoppers – If you want the best of the best, the Premier Copper will be the most luxurious option.
Comparing Nectar vs. Nectar Premier vs. Nectar Premier Copper: Top Similarities
- Good for most side sleepers – Although the Nectar Premier Copper might cause some pressure buildup for the lightest side sleepers, it shows excellent relief for heavier people. The Nectar and Nectar Premier also do a good job of relieving pressure, which is a major advantage for side sleepers.
- Contain the same foams – Aside from the covers, the materials used in these beds are the same. However, the thickness of the foam layers varies among each model.
- They come with the same policies – The company includes a year-long trial, a lifetime warranty, and free shipping with all three of these beds.
Comparing Nectar vs. Nectar Premier vs. Nectar Premier Copper: Key Differences
- The Nectar – This flagship model is the thinnest and most affordable option.
- The Premier – The Nectar Premier is an inch thicker than the Nectar and has extra cooling features like a cool-to-the-touch cover.
- The Premier Copper – This mattress is the thickest of the three and has an advanced cooling cover made with copper fibers.
Comparing Firmness, Support & Feel
Firmness
At Sleep Advisor, we rate matttress firmness on a scale from 1 to 10, with 1 being the softest and 10 the hardest. We gave the Nectar a 6.5 out of 10, whereas the Premier is slightly softer at 6 out of 10. The Premier Copper is the softest, falling at a 5 out of 10 on our firmness scale. While these beds all offer a relatively similar firmness, Nectar’s classic model will give you a slightly more solid feel compared to the other two.
Support
Support is going to be a key component for keeping the spine in optimal alignment. Each of these Nectar beds should deliver quality support to many sleepers thanks to the durable high-density foam base and the extra lifting provided by the middle foam layer.
With that in mind, Loren and I agreed that the hybrid versions might work better for people who need extra support. Heavy people and stomach sleepers probably need sturdier options, which is why we’d recommend Nectar hybrid models.
Learn more about Nectar’s hybrid bed in our Nectar hybrid mattresses comparison.
Feel
As mentioned, the Nectar offers a slightly firmer feel, which could make it harder to lie on your side if you have wider shoulders. Like the Nectar, the Premier model offers the traditional memory foam feel, but in this case, it sleeps slightly cooler. The Premier Copper feels the softest and almost like sleeping on a dough. However, you’re unlikely to feel trapped by the foam.
Comparing Sinkage and Bounce
The Nectar mattress is going to give you a slow response and more sinkage, which is a common trait of memory foam. With the Premier, you should receive exceptional contouring, particularly in the hips and shoulders. Even in the stomach sleeping position, we found that the hips were able to remain level in the Premier, but I’d almost always recommend the Premier Hybrid instead.
Like the other two beds, the Premier Copper should give you some nice sinkage to relieve muscle and joint tension. Although they’re made entirely out of foam, each of these beds has significant responsiveness. They’re springy and foster easy movement, so switching positions shouldn’t be an issue on any of these Nectar models.
Comparing Motion Transfer
While some sleepers love bouncier mattresses, they often come with added motion transfer, which means movement on one side of the bed will likely be felt on the other side. This can be problematic for couples or anyone sharing a bed, particularly if they’re easily disturbed.
These Nectar mattresses all feature an all-foam construction that includes memory foam. Typically, memory foam beds outshine other mattress types when it comes to curbing motion transfer, and Nectar’s inventory is no exception.
While all three models should isolate movement well, the Nectar Premier showed the best results. We tested each of these beds using a seismograph, but I also had Loren jumping next to me to see just how shaky the beds got.
Comparing Cooling
Cooling is a major marketing point of all three Nectar models, which is why we were as surprised they didn’t perform as well here. Don’t get me wrong, there is some cooling there, but I wouldn’t say it’s enough for extra-hot sleepers.
The Nectar mattress has a Tencel cover that does feel nice but doesn’t remain cool for very long after you lie in bed. The gel in this mattress doesn’t seem to be doing anything in terms of cooling and breathability. The same goes for the other two Nectar models. The surface feels cool to the touch, but that’s pretty much it.
Comparing Construction (Materials & Quality)
Nectar Construction
The 12-inch Nectar mattress comes with a poly-blend cover that promotes temperature regulation by allowing air to flow freely through. Quilted to this cover is a cooling gel memory foam. This softer foam gives the bed’s surface a more uniform appearance and plush feel.
- The comfort layer is made up of a 2-inch memory foam infused with gel. This comfort layer is designed to cradle the sleeper’s curves and reduce tension and strain. There’s gel in this layer to help with cooling, but I wasn’t impressed with its performance.
- The transition layer is 4 inches of soft conventional foam. This slightly firmer layer not only provides extra support to the sleeper but also helps ease the individual into the dense foam base below.
- The base is 6 inches thick and is composed of a standard conventional foam that provides the bed with durability and keeps the sleeper well-supported.
Nectar Premier Construction
The Nectar Premier mattress is a total of 13 inches high, making it slightly thicker than the standard Nectar option. The cool-to-the-touch cover is made of premium fibers designed to draw heat away and foster more comfortable sleep.
- The comfort layer sits below the cooling cover and contains 3 inches of gel memory foam with ActiveCool HD. This unit offers a slow response and excellent pressure relief, which is ideal for side sleepers.
- The supporting layer is made of 3 inches of conventional foam. This material responds more quickly to pressure while delivering added support to keep the sleeper from sinking too deep.
- The base layer is created from 7 inches of high-density poly foam, giving the bed durable stability. This dense material offers plenty of support to keep your spine aligned and your hips elevated.
Nectar Premier Copper Construction
The Nectar Premier Copper stands 14 inches tall, covered with a Dual-Action Cooling Copper Cover that utilizes heat-conductive copper fibers. The bed’s cover is cool to the touch and stretchy.
- Below the cover is a 4-inch comfort layer made from gel memory foam that gives the bed plushness, motion isolation, and pressure relief. This layer also has ActiveCool HD, a phase-change material that should help with temperature regulation.
- The transition layer is made from soft poly foam to ease you onto the base layer. This is known as the Dynamic Response Layer, and it’s an inch tall. However, it should give enough cushioning and pressure relief for those who sleep on their side or back.
- The base layer stands 9 inches tall and is a conventional foam that provides support and structure to the other layers of the mattress.
Comparing Company Policies & Price
- Warranty – People who order a Nectar mattress will receive a lifetime warranty that’s only effective for the original person who purchased the item.
- Shipping – Nectar beds are delivered free of charge within the contiguous United States. The company will ship them to Hawaii and Alaska for an additional fee.
- Trial Period – You can keep this bed risk-free for up to 365 nights. If you are unsatisfied with your purchase, you can return it for a full refund.
- Returns – Returns are free for those in the contiguous U.S. Customers in Hawaii and Alaska can return the mattress, but there’s a delivery fee to do this.
- Price – The Nectar is the cheapest, the Nectar Premier is the medium-price option, and the Premier Copper is the most expensive.

My Final Thoughts
When looking at the quality of Nectar’s memory foam beds, you can’t go wrong with any of them. Ultimately, it will come down to the unique benefits each one has to offer and where they stand with your own needs.
For those who value some added luxury and height, I think the Nectar Premier and Premier Copper will be the better options, with the Premier Copper offering the most features. On the flip side, Nectar’s flagship model comes with a slightly firmer feel, motion isolation, support, and pressure relief – all at a more budget-friendly price point. Although none of them are particularly cooling, they’re still temperature-neutral.
