Who We Recommend The Apollo For:
- Memory foam fans – Although this isn’t an all-foam bed, it has two memory foam layers giving off that classic cozy feel. The Apollo mattress allows just enough sinkage to relieve pressure and provide excellent motion isolation, known for memory foam beds.
- Canadians – This bed is made by Canadians for Canadians. For this reason, shipping is free within Canada, although there may be a fee for some remote areas. If you’re a Canadian, this is a good made-in-Canada option that ships for free.
- Hot sleepers – Hot sleepers typically steer away from memory foam, but in the case of the Apollo mattress, they don’t have to. The bed has a cooling cover, gel and copper infusions, and an open-cell memory foam that allows continuous airflow. In addition, the micro-coils help promote airflow even more.
Who We Don’t Recommend The Apollo For:
- People who want a bouncy bed – Although this bed has micro-coils, it also has two thick memory foam layers sitting on top of the coil unit. This cancels out any bounce to provide excellent motion transfer. While this is important for many people, combination sleepers and people with mobility issues may find it difficult to move around this bed.
- Stomach sleepers – Stomach sleepers need a firm sleeping surface to keep the hips aligned with the rest of the body. Although the Apollo mattress is on the firmer side, this is likely not firm enough for comfortable stomach sleeping, especially for people weighing over 130 pounds.
First Impressions: Firmness & Feel
Firmness Scale: 6/10
Please remember that firmness is a subjective characteristic and your shape will dictate how you experience a bed. A heavier person whose weight can more easily push through softer comfort and support layers may experience a bed as softer than a lightweight person. The way you are shaped could also play a role here. Consider your weight, shape, and size when evaluating firmness scores.
The Apollo mattress is a versatile bed that should work for most people as it has a mid-range firmness. We rate mattress firmness on a scale of 1 to 10, where 1 is the softest and 10 is the firmest. The Apollo falls somewhere at 6 out of 10 on our firmness scale, which is a feel we’d describe as medium firm.
Although the memory foam comfort layer offers some cushioning for pressure relief, this bed is on the firmer side. This means you’re unlikely to sink too deeply within the first layers. Instead, sleepers should feel nicely supported in a healthy posture, especially if they sleep on their side and back.
How Does It Feel?
The thick top layer of memory foam is what gives excellent pressure relief, allowing sleepers to sink a bit. This creates a contouring feel around the pressure points, making this bed cozy and comfortable for side sleeping.
The lower layers are firmer to prevent you from sinking too deeply. Although there’s a deep hug coming from the memory foam, the bed still feels medium firm and supportive in the hips and lower back.
What We Like About the Apollo
- Classic memory foam feel – This bed has two memory foam layers above the micro-coils, giving that classic body-hugging feel. This makes the Apollo mattress a great option for people with pressure buildup, achy joints, and other memory foam fans.
- Cooling – Although it has memory foam, this bed won’t make you feel too warm. The cover feels cool to the touch and there are gel and copper infusions in the foam. In addition, micro-coils allow additional airflow to keep the construction cool.
- Excellent motion isolation – The two foam layers do a great job of absorbing movement so that partners don’t feel one another tossing and turning.
Our Apollo Complaints
- It has little bounce – The Apollo mattress has micro-coils, but this may not be enough to bring as much bounce. In addition, thick memory foam layers above the coils cancel most of this bounce, which is why this bed may not be the best for people with limited mobility.
- Not for stomach sleepers – Although this mattress feels medium firm, this may not be firm enough for most stomach sleepers. Plus, most people are likely to experience a deep hug, which may throw the hips out of alignment, especially for people over 230 pounds.
Testing the Apollo Mattress: How it Performed
We tested the Apollo mattress to see how it would fit side, back, and stomach sleepers. The mattress combines pressure relief with support in a medium-firm feel that should feel good for most people. This mid-range firmness should be comfortable for average-weight sleepers as well as those who enjoy sleeping on their back.
We also tested for other preference-based features such as bounce, edge support, motion isolation, and temperature regulation.
Sleeping Positions for Different Body Types
According to company representatives, the Apollo mattress can handle up to 500 pounds or 250 pounds per side. This means it should work well for average-weight people and some heavy sleepers weighing no more than 250 pounds. However, you should still keep its firmness in mind because although it can carry over 230 pounds, it may be uncomfortable for heavy people.
Side Sleepers
- Lightweight Sleepers – Lightweight side sleepers should experience a nice contour around pressure points, although some may prefer an even softer bed that allows more sinkage in the hips, shoulders, and knees.
- Average Weight Sleepers – Average-weight side sleepers should experience a deeper hug as the top memory foam layer allows more sinkage, especially for those closer to 230 pounds.
- Heavyweight Sleepers – Heavy side sleepers may want to consider a firmer bed because memory foam in the Apollo mattress is likely too soft to keep the body aligned.
Back Sleepers
- Lightweight Sleepers – Lightweight back sleepers should feel the top memory foam layer contouring the lower back while keeping the spine aligned. However, some may still prefer a softer bed.
- Average Weight Sleepers – Back sleepers weighing 130 to 230 pounds are likely to sink just enough, feeling the memory foam contouring the lower back. The mid-range firmness and its micro-coils do a good job of supporting the body in this position.
- Heavyweight Sleepers – Heavy sleepers may want a firmer bed because the Apollo has a softer comfort layer that might not offer the support needed for the lower back area.
Stomach Sleepers
- Lightweight Sleepers – Lightweight stomach sleepers should experience this bed as firmer, which is likely to feel good in the hip area even with a bit of contouring around the pressure points.
- Average Weight Sleepers – Average-weight stomach sleepers may sink too deeply into the comfort layers, especially if they weigh closer to 230 pounds.
- Heavyweight Sleepers – This bed is likely too soft for stomach sleepers weighing over 230 pounds as it doesn’t offer enough support to keep the hips aligned.
Pressure Relief & Pain
Nothing does pressure relief as well as memory foam, so it’s no surprise this bed is a great option for those with pressure buildup. Pressure tends to build up in the hips, shoulders, and knees, depending on your preferred sleeping position. The Apollo mattress does a good job of alleviating the pressure by cushioning these areas, offering a gentle contour to a deep hug, depending on your body weight.
Back Pain – People with back pain should benefit from the bed’s mid-range firmness that combines pressure relief and support. This bed has micro-coils that give it a bit of a bounce but also serve to enhance support where it’s needed the most. Those with back pain should like how the memory foam contours the lower back without letting the hips sink too deeply.
Hip Pain – Those with shoulder pain usually focus on softer mattresses, but even a medium firm can help relieve the pain. The Apollo mattress has that mid-range firmness to keep the body aligned, but its memory foam layers offer a cradle that helps relieve pain in the hip area. However, side sleepers with hip pain may want a softer bed.
Shoulder Pain – Shoulder pain is another common issue among people who sleep on the side. Luckily, the Apollo bed can help with this for the same reasons it helps with hip pain. The bed is on the firmer side, so it does a good job of keeping your shoulders aligned with the rest of the body while the memory foam contours this area to relieve pressure and pain.
Support
We focus most of our attention on the memory foam layers this bed has, but let’s not forget this is a hybrid with coils. The 1-inch tall coil unit sits under memory foam, acting as one of the support layers. Although these are micro-coils, they do a remarkable job of delivering a bit of bounce and plenty of support.
The Apollo also has two layers making up one 7-inch base made from high-density foam. This is where most of its support comes from, as this layer doesn’t allow any sinkage or bounce. Instead, it ensures all the upper layers perform at their peak when it comes to supporting your body in alignment.
Motion Transfer
Memory foam is by far the best for motion isolation, making the Apollo mattress a great option if this is your main focus. Motion isolation is important for many people, but mostly couples and co-sleepers sharing their beds with kids or pets. Partners with different sleeping habits may also want to consider motion isolation that prevents them from feeling every bit of tossing and turning.
The Apollo has memory foam that cancels out most of the movement and bounce, so you can sleep comfortably even if your partner moves a lot. This is very good for a hybrid mattress, but it’s also because it has micro-coils instead of regular ones.
Temperature Regulation / Cooling
Most people think of overheating when they hear memory foam. Apart from offering excellent motion isolation and pressure relief, memory foam can overheat and cause a lot of heat buildup because of sinkage and contouring. Luckily, this isn’t the case with the Apollo mattress, as the company went above and beyond to avoid this issue.
First, this mattress has a cooling cover that remains cool to the touch throughout the night. The first memory foam layer has micro-gel beads and copper to help with temperature regulation. In addition, the second memory foam layer has an open-cell structure that encourages airflow, which helps cool the entire bed even more.
Performance for Couples
Couples usually focus on motion isolation, but some may also like a bit of a bounce. Sexually-active couples looking for a bouncy bed may want a traditional hybrid or even an innerspring that has more pushback support.
Those who find motion isolation more important should find a good match in the Apollo mattress. Plus, its mid-range firmness should work for most people, but do keep in mind that the bed cannot handle more than pounds.

Preference-based Features
Antimicrobial and Cooling
This bed is infused with gel and copper, giving it cooling and antimicrobial properties. Both gel and copper help cool the memory foam, while copper alone has great antimicrobial properties that repel bacteria.
Exceptional Edge Support
The second memory foam layer has an additional foam layer around the edges to reinforce this area and give more edge support. The foam around the perimeter is three inches thick, ensuring the edges don’t collapse when you sit or sleep in this area.
Adjustable Base Compatible
This mattress works with a platform bed frame, slatted bases, box foundations, and adjustable bases for those who want to customize the feel even more.
Made in Canada
Construction: What’s Inside the Apollo?
This bed is 12 inches tall, featuring four layers, two of which make up the bed’s base layer. The construction starts with a cool-to-the-touch cover with the brand’s PolarMAX™ technology. The cover is designed to wick moisture and draw body heat away from the mattress surface, maintaining a cool feel at all times. The best part is that you can remove the cover when it’s time to wash it.
- The comfort layer is two inches tall and is made of copper-infused memory foam. This layer has a slow response but offers a deep cradle for comfortable pressure relief in the hips and shoulders. Copper in this layer has a cooling effect as it dissipates body heat. In addition, it has antimicrobial properties.
- The transition layer is also made of memory foam. Although it has a similar feel as the comfort layer, there are gel infusions instead of copper. The open-cell design promotes airflow to prevent the bed from overheating.
- The support layer is an inch of micro-coils added for a bit of a bounce. This also adds some support as the coils have more resilience than the upper layers. Additionally, this is to prevent the upper layers from sagging and your body from sinking too deeply.
- The base layer is made from two layers standing 7 inches tall. These two layers hold the upper layers together, ensuring everything is aligned at all times. The base foam offers head-to-toe support while also enhancing motion isolation.
Unboxing & Off-Gassing
Apollo is shipped in a box, so it’s easy to move from your door to the bedroom. Although the box is not as bulky, it can be heavy, so make sure to have someone help you set it up. Unboxing takes a few minutes, but you should first place the box on the mattress foundation of your choice. Once it’s out of the box, it takes up to 30 minutes to decompress, but it won’t reach its full comfort until 24 hours have passed.
Remember that you must keep the plastic bag it came in for the duration of the trial. If you decide to return the mattress, you’ll need to place it back in that bag.
Also, any odors you may notice during the first 24 hours are likely to dissipate soon.

- Eco-Friendly Certifications – The foams in this bed are CertiPUR-US® certified. CertiPUR-US® is a third-party program that ensures the foams meet rigorous health and safety standards. This means they don’t contain harmful substances like ozone depleters, PBDEs, heavy metals, formaldehyde, and phthalates. They should also have low volatile organic compound (VOC) emissions.

Frequently Asked Questions
What is the warranty on the Apollo mattress?
The Apollo mattress comes with a 15-year warranty on faulty materials and craftsmanship. You can get the mattress replaced within this period in case you notice any deterioration caused by poor craftsmanship or materials.
Is Apollo made in China?
Apollo isn’t made in China but in Canada. This is a Canadian brand sourcing materials and producing beds within the country, which is why they can cut costs and offer free shipping.
Is Apollo a luxury brand?
We wouldn’t say this bed is necessarily luxury but high-quality and durable. Luxury beds typically contain more materials and preference-based features, and they’re also much more expensive than the Apollo mattress.

Overall Summary
The Apollo mattress is one of the best options if you’re after a hybrid mattress with layers of memory foam. This bed has everything from contouring and pressure relief to motion isolation and temperature regulation. In addition, it comes with a 120-night trial and a 15-year warranty.
Side Sleepers
4/5
Side sleepers should find the Apollo to be a good match because of the memory foam layers. The mattress offers a deep hug for side sleepers, contouring the shoulders, hips, knees, and other sensitive pressure points. However, lightweight side sleepers may prefer a softer bed.
Back Sleepers
4/5
The Apollo mattress is a good option for back sleepers as the comfort layer allows enough sinkage in the lower back area. The mid-range firmness and its micro-coils should do a good job of keeping the body aligned, preventing the hips from sinking too deeply.
Stomach Sleepers
3/5
This mattress is likely to be too soft for most stomach sleepers because the hips may sink too much in this position. Those weighing under 130 pounds may find sufficient support, but the rest should do better with a traditional hybrid or innerspring with taller coils that offer more support.
Combination Sleepers
4/5
Combination sleepers usually do best with a bouncy mattress that can offer some pushback support. The bounce helps with repositioning, which is why the Apollo mattress may not be the best option. Although it should work well for most people, it lacks that bounce that can assist you when switching positions.
Couples
4/5
Couples looking for a versatile bed should like the Apollo mattress. Memory foam combined with its mid-range firmness should work well for most people, although some may prefer a bit more bounce. However, the mattress excels in motion isolation, which is often the most important thing for couples and partners with different sleeping habits.
Heavy Sleepers
3/5
Significantly heavier people are likely to sink too deeply into the memory foam layers. This can throw the spine out of alignment, especially for heavy sleepers who prefer sleeping on their stomach. For this reason, most people over 230 pounds are likely to do better with a firmer mattress.
Lightweight Sleepers
4/5
Some people under 130 pounds may find this bed too firm, but most should do well thanks to the memory foam layers. Memory foam has excellent contouring capabilities, offering high levels of pressure relief, even for lightweight side sleepers. However, lightweight stomach sleepers are the ones to like the Apollo the most.
Average Weight Sleepers
5/5
This bed has a medium firm feel, so it should work well for people weighing 130 to 230 pounds. However, the level of pressure relief and support depends on the sleeper’s exact body weight. Most people within this weight group should experience a balance of relief and support from this hybrid construction.
Overall Value
4/5
Apollo has a lot to offer, starting with a deep hug that delivers comfortable pressure relief in the shoulders, hips, and knees. In addition, the micro-coils enhance support without adding too much bounce for those who want to focus on motion isolation. Add its trial and warranty to the picture, and you’ll have a high-quality mattress.
Our Verdict
Testing of the Apollo mattress showed us what all the hype is about. The mattress combines classic materials in a unique way to deliver cushioning, pressure relief, support, and outstanding motion isolation.
Although it’s not as bouncy as traditional hybrid mattresses, it has better motion-isolating capabilities than beds with taller springs. The micro-coils help enhance support, but you’re unlikely to feel them there since there’s not much responsiveness from this layer.
The bed ships for free, and there’s also a 120-night trial, giving you enough time to test how you like it. However, make sure to keep the plastic packaging, as you’ll need it in case you want to return the mattress for a refund.
