Both beds hail from legendary bed-in-a-box brand Nectar, a company known for prioritizing comfort and pressure relief in its mattress designs. The all-foam Nectar is excellent when it comes to pressure relief, but the hybrid version excels in support and bounce. Which one do you think would fit your needs best?

Comparing Firmness, Support & Feel

Firmness

We rate mattresses on a firmness scale of 1 to 10, where 1 is the softest and 10 is the firmest. This allows us to better explain how the beds feel, especially when considering various sleeping positions and body types.

The Nectar Hybrid mattress is rated a 6.5 to 7 out of 10 on our firmness scale. This should feel medium-firm to firm, depending on your body weight and preferred sleeping position. On the other hand, the Nectar mattress falls at a 6.5 out of 10, and has a slightly softer feel towards the top.

Support

Nectar is known for creating excellent support systems that help sleepers achieve a healthy sleeping posture in different positions. The all-foam version has gel-infused memory foam and Dynamic Response Layer that supports the body in its natural alignment. However, those who need extra support may want to steer toward the Nectar Hybrid, as it has coils.

The Hybrid’s fight inches of coils make a difference by providing support and bounce, adapting to the shape of your body in different sleeping positions. These coils also provide better edge support than the Nectar all-foam, which may falter at the sides.

Feel

Both mattresses offer gentle cradling for optimal pressure relief. However, the hybrid version feels a bit firmer, especially for people who weigh under 150 pounds. The Nectar Hybrid mattress also has more bounce, which you’ll feel right when you lie down the first time. On the other hand, the all-foam model has a slower response, reminiscent of that traditional memory foam feel.

Both mattresses should feel comfortable for back, side, and stomach sleeping, although the level of support and sinkage varies and depends largely on your body weight.

Comparing Sinkage and Bounce

The Nectar is an excellent choice for pressure relief as it offers enough sinkage to contour your curves in various sleeping positions. The all-foam Nectar doesn’t have much bounce, but is known for a slower response. The top layers allow you to sink in just enough to relieve the pressure in the hips, shoulders, and knees.

On the other hand, the Nectar Hybrid mattress has more bounce due to the addition of coils. This model also allows gentle contouring but has a slightly firmer feel, especially for people under 130 pounds. However, the bounce helps with getting in and out of bed and repositioning, which is important if you’re a combination sleeper.

Comparing Motion Transfer

Motion isolation is always important for light sleepers sharing their mattress with a combination sleeper or a restless one. People sharing their beds with kids and pets should also look for a high motion isolation.

Both of these Nectar mattresses do a good job of isolating motion so that it doesn’t transfer from one side of the bed to the other. However, when comparing the two, we noticed the all-foam Nectar performed slightly better at motion isolation than the Nectar Hybrid. Nonetheless, even with coils, the Nectar Hybrid mattress offers solid motion isolation because the coils are further down in the mattress construction, so the foam layers up top help create a motion-isolating surface.

Comparing Cooling

Nectar implemented cooling features in both the all-foam and hybrid versions of their flagship model. By nature, hybrid mattresses are more breathable because the coils allow more air circulation that keeps the construction cool. All-foam mattresses are prone to overheating, especially if they have memory foam.

However, these Nectar mattresses have gel memory foam that sleeps cooler than traditional memory foam. They both also have a cooling cover made from heat-absorbent polyethylene fibers, which help pull your body heat away from the mattress surface.

For hot sleepers, though, we recommend the Nectar Hybrid. Although the Nectar may sleep cooler than similar all-foam beds, it doesn’t beat out the breathability of the Hybrid’s coil base.

Comparing Construction (Materials & Quality)

Nectar Construction

The all-foam version of the Nectar flagship model is 12 inches tall, and features three foam layers, a cooling cover, and a shift-resistant base cover. The cooling cover is designed with the brand’s innovative cooling technology and heat-absorbent polyethylene fibers that pull heat away from the mattress surface.

• The comfort layer is made from a 2-inch gel memory foam layer that contours to your curves regardless of your preferred sleeping position. This layer has a plush feel and is the main act against pressure build-up and overheating.
• The Dynamic Response Layer acts as the transition layer. It’s made from three inches of conventional foam. This foam is responsive, which helps with repositioning and offers excellent motion isolation.
• The ActiveSupport Stability Base Layer is made from a 7-inch conventional foam base that enhances the bed’s stability, structure, and durability. This layer acts as the foundation, ensuring all the layers above perform at their best.

Nectar Hybrid Construction

The Nectar Hybrid mattress has the same cooling cover, but it contains four layers instead of the Nectar’s three. Much like the all-foam mattress, the hybrid version also has a lower soft stitchbond polyester cover that prevents the mattress from sliding on the foundation. The upper cooling cover has an antimicrobial finish to prevent bacteria from developing.

• The comfort layer is made from a 2-inch gel memory foam slab that adapts to your curves, helping relieve pressure in sensitive areas like your shoulders and hips.
• The Dynamic Transition Layer is thinner than in the all-foam Nectar. It only contains an inch of conventional foam for bounce and support, and gently transitions you to the coil unit.
• The Infinity Innerspring Support Layer has 8 inches of individually-wrapped coils that enhance the support level and breathability of this mattress. The perimeter also has thicker coils for stronger edge support.
• The ActiveSupport Base Layer is an inch of conventional foam that gives structure to the entire bed, and ensures all layers perform at their peak.

Comparing Company Policies & Price

• Warranty – Nectar offers a lifetime warranty with both the Nectar and Nectar Hybrid.
• Shipping – Shipping is free within the contiguous USA. In most cases, it takes three to five days for the mattresses to arrive on your doorstep. Shipping to Alaska and Hawaii is available for an additional fee of 150 dollars. There is also optional white glove delivery for an additional fee of 199 dollars.
• Trial Period – Nectar gives shoppers 365 nights to test both the all-foam and hybrid versions.
• Returns – Returns are free and easy if you’re within the contiguous USA. Those outside of the USA will have to pay a delivery fee.
• Price – The Nectar Hybrid costs a few hundred dollars more than the all-foam model. Although the Nectar Memory Foam mattress is cheaper than the Nectar Hybrid, both models are still affordable when compared to similar beds on the market.
