Our In-Depth Luuf Bed Review for 2024

You will love Luuf if you:

• Are looking for personalized pressure relief – This bed has seven comfort zones to provide firmer and softer feels as needed. This makes it easier to achieve the right level of pressure relief for lightweight and heavier people in all sleeping positions. 
• Sleep hot – Graphite, cooling gels, and an individually pocketed coil system are all great for keeping a mattress cool. They pull the heat away from your body and allow plenty of airflow to keep the construction from overheating. 
• Want enhanced edge support – The Luuf mattress has a Quantum Coil design with reinforced edges that allow you to use the entire mattress surface. This makes the bed excellent for couples and single sleepers who like to spread out near the edge of the bed.

You might not like Luuf if you:

Need enhanced motion control – When we tested the Luuf mattress, we noticed some motion transfer. This is a hybrid mattress, so it’s normal for the coils to carry more motion than an all-foam memory bed would. Although this isn’t a dealbreaker for everyone, light sleepers who wake up easily may find this too much.

Construction (Materials & Quality)

This hybrid is a bed-in-a-box mattress best used on flat, supportive surfaces. The company suggests box springs, foundations, and platform frames. Additionally, they recommend slatted frames with slats no more than 4 inches apart. 

The first thing we noticed about its construction is the stretchy cotton cover that enhances its comfort and breathability. Plus, the fact that it’s stretchy should help prolong its lifespan because it’s less likely to rip apart. The following breakdown of materials refers to the Firm Multi-Sleeper model.

• The comfort layer has an inch of Graphene Infused Premium Memory Foam that helps conduct the heat away from your body. This makes the bed more cooling, helping those who often overheat at night. 
• The transition layer features 2 inches of High-Density Adaptive Foam that contours your body. This gentle-hugging layer is a good transition to the support layer underneath, offering plenty of pressure relief for a comfortable sleep. 
• The support layer is made of 1,074 individually wrapped Quantum Coils. This layer has seven zones to provide personalized support in different areas of the body.

Firmness (Support & Feel)

We tested the Firm model, placing it at a 6-7.5 out of 10 on our firmness scale. Although it’s called Firm, we think this mattress is better described as medium-firm to slightly firm based on our scale of 1 to 10.

The cover feels soft and cool, but as you lie down, it begins to lose that cooling effect. Although it’s designed to wick moisture and prevent overheating, this isn’t a cooling cover designed to stay cool throughout the night. 

The mattress has gel inside the memory foam to help prevent overheating, and the coil system allows plenty of airflow.

This comfort option should provide a minimal cradle with a body-contouring effect. If you prefer a deeper hug, you may want to try the Plush model. However, we don’t anticipate that pressure relief shouldn’t be an issue here as even this comfort level allows enough contouring to relieve pressure in the hips, knees, and shoulders. 

We noticed significant bounce coming from the coils beneath the foam, which is also what’s ruining the motion isolation a bit. The foams respond slower than latex but still faster than memory foam, which we think should help combination sleepers with repositioning. 

Since there are multiple comfort levels available, we think anyone can enjoy this mattress. The Firm model is a good option for stomach and back sleepers looking for adequate lumbar support and good spinal alignment. 

Some stomach sleepers may prefer a firmer bed, but this depends on their particular weight. We think the Firm Luuf mattress should do a good job of keeping the hips from sinking too deeply for those weighing up to 170 pounds. 

On the other hand, side sleepers may experience some pressure buildup in the hips due to the overall firmness of the Firm model. We think most side sleepers should be better off with a softer Luuf model. 

The Luuf bed has many options to meet everyone’s needs and preferences. This is especially the case thanks to the zoned layer that adapts to various body weights, providing ample support and pressure relief. Zoned support also helps promote a neutral spine and eliminates pains from too much pushback or sinkage. Even if the Firm model doesn’t fit you, the company offers multiple firmness levels for everyone to find a comfortable option.

Motion Transfer

Although foam helps dampen most vibrations, coils often have too much bounce that the foam can’t eliminate. This is a hybrid mattress with individually pocketed coils, so it’s still not as bouncy as classic innerspring beds with connected springs. 

Nonetheless, the Luuf doesn’t have the best motion isolation for light sleepers who wake up easily, especially if they’re sleeping beside restless sleepers.

Edge Support

When we tested the Luuf mattress, we noticed higher-than-average edge support probably due to Quantum Edge design. This design incorporates a row of thin but solid coils around the edge of the bed. 

You may notice some compression when you sit near the edge, but lying down feels secure enough because the coils provide enough stability.
