Are you after a luxurious mattress that makes you feel like you’re sleeping on a hotel mattress? If so, you may want to pay special attention to this Aviya model.
Aviya makes mattresses for hotels, but they also sell this model to consumers. The price is reasonable for such a high-quality mattress, so you can feel like you’re on an expensive getaway without going anywhere.
This hybrid combines foam and coils, offering comfort, support, and pressure relief. In this review, we’ll go over all the pros and cons of the Luxury Firm model to help you decide if it’s the right option for you.
Aviya Mattress
The Aviya mattress is a good option for hot sleepers as the coils allow continuous airflow. The foam prevents you from sinking in too deeply, which should also help with temperature regulation.

Who We Recommend The Aviya For:
- People who want a breathable bed – Innerspring units are naturally breathable as the coils allow plenty of air to circulate through the construction. On top of that, you’re unlikely to sink into the foam too much, which can help you stay cool. However, we would recommend something with extra cooling for very hot sleepers.
- Combination sleepers – The Aviya mattress is a bouncy one, so we think it’s an excellent option for combination sleepers and those with mobility issues. The bounce comes from both the top and bottom layers to help with repositioning.
- Hybrid fans– Hybrid beds have plenty of benefits, and Aviya is no exception. This hybrid combines foam for pressure relief and super-compact springs for added support, even along the edges.
Who We Don’t Recommend The Aviya For:
- Memory foam lovers – We found that this mattress has a quick response, so it’s not like traditional slow-responding memory foam beds. If you want a memory foam mattress that offers more sinkage and a slower response, it’s probably better to look for one without coils. Hybrids are almost always bouncier than all-foam beds.
- Lightweight side sleepers – The Luxury Firm model isn’t the firmest in Aviya’s arsenal, but it’s also not the softest. We think side sleepers who weigh under 130 pounds may want to check the Plush version of this mattress, as it should offer more sinkage.
First Impressions: Firmness & Feel
Firmness Scale: 6/10
Please remember that firmness is a subjective characteristic and your shape will dictate how you experience a bed. A heavier person whose weight can more easily push through softer comfort and support layers may experience a bed as softer than a lightweight person. The way you are shaped could also play a role here. Consider your weight, shape, and size when evaluating firmness scores.
When testing mattresses, we evaluate their firmness based on our firmness scale, in which 1 is the softest and 10 is the firmest. This helps us better explain how the mattress firmness feels to shoppers. We rated the Aviya Luxury Firm model at a 6 out of 10. This firmness is within a medium range, although we’d say it’s closer to medium-firm.
As such, we think the Aviya mattress caters to a large range of individuals, including those closer to 230 pounds. However, some sleepers, like those significantly lighter and heavier, may prefer the Plush or Firm model.
How Does It Feel?
The first thing we noticed was that this bed has a luxurious cover with quilting. When pressing down, we noticed additional comfort in the transitional layers right before the coils. The overall feel fits the mattress firmness rate we gave the Aviya as it’s right in the middle between a firm and soft bed.
The bounce comes from the entire construction, including the coils. They allow quick responsiveness, making it easy to switch positions and get in and out of the bed.
What We Like About the Aviya
- Multiple firmness options – This mattress has three firmness options, allowing sleepers to pick what suits them best. For this review, we’re focusing on the Luxury Firm option, which we believe is the most versatile.
- Enhanced support – The Aviya mattress has 15-gauge steel coils throughout the mattress, with additional coils added to the lumbar region. These heavy-duty coils can help keep your body aligned, offering superior support in multiple sleeping positions.
- Edge support – The Aviya mattress has reinforced edges to keep them from collapsing under the sleeper’s weight. This way, there’s minimal compression when you sit or sleep in this area.
Our Aviya Complaints
- Not for lightweight side sleepers – In our opinion, the Luxury Firm may be a tad too firm for side sleepers under 130 pounds. This is because these sleepers don’t weigh enough to activate the upper layers of this hybrid. Instead, we suggest trying the Plush version that allows more sinkage.
- No advanced cooling features – We found this mattress is temperature-neutral, which means its breathability prevents the construction from overheating. However, it lacks advanced cooling features that could make the surface cool to the touch for significantly hot sleepers.
- No all-foam version – Although you have three firmness options to pick from, the company doesn’t offer an all-foam version of this mattress. This means that you’ll have to look elsewhere if you want a mattress without any coils.
Testing the Aviya Mattress: How it Performed
When we test mattresses, we focus on performance, feel, and preference-based features. This includes lying on a mattress in multiple sleep positions and evaluating features like edge support, motion isolation, bounce, and other factors that people look for when buying a new mattress.

Weight | Side Sleepers | Back Sleepers | Stomach Sleepers |
Lightweight Sleepers (-130 lbs) | ☆☆☆ | ★★★ | ★★☆ |
Average-Weight Sleepers (130-230 lbs) | ★★★ | ★★★ | ★★☆ |
Heavyweight Sleepers (+230 lbs) | ★★☆ | ★★☆ | ☆☆☆ |
Sleeping Positions for Different Body Types
We couldn’t find any precise information on how much weight can support. However, given that it’s a hybrid with such strong coils, we’d say it can probably hold up to 1,000 pounds. Hybrids are typically more durable than all-foam models due to the steel coils, but this still doesn’t mean this mattress would be a good fit for all body types and sleep styles.
Side Sleepers
- Lightweight Sleepers – We think lightweight side sleepers may do better with the Plush version of the Aviya mattress. The Luxury Firm model is too firm to relieve pressure in the hips and shoulders as it doesn’t allow any sinkage.
- Average-Weight Sleepers – Average-weight side sleepers should sink into the comfort layers just enough to get pressure relief for the sensitive points. They weigh more and can activate these layers to get the best of them.
- Heavyweight Sleepers – Heavy side sleepers will sink even deeper, but the coils are likely to keep them supported in this position. However, we think those significantly over 230 pounds may want to check out the Firm version
Back Sleepers
- Lightweight Sleepers – Back sleepers weighing under 130 pounds should like sleeping on the Aviya. We think this group should experience excellent support in the lower back, sleeping more on top of the mattress than in it.
- Average-Weight Sleepers – Average-weight back sleepers should also stay on top of the mattress thanks to its reinforced lumbar region. The added coils should keep your body aligned, preventing the hips from dipping in this position.
- Heavyweight Sleepers – We think heavier back sleepers should also benefit from the reinforced lumbar support. They’re unlikely to sink too deeply, but for some people, it may still be better to try the Firm model.
Stomach Sleepers
- Lightweight Sleepers – The majority of lightweight stomach sleepers should enjoy the Luxury Firm model as it offers substantial support. There should be no sinkage in the hip area, so the spine should stay aligned in this position.
- Average-Weight Sleepers – We think most average-weight sleepers should enjoy this mattress for stomach sleeping. The coils do an excellent job of keeping the hips from dipping, so there’s minimal chance of back pain when sleeping on the stomach.
- Heavyweight Sleepers – Heavy stomach sleepers should try the Firm model because we think the Luxury Firm Aviya is likely too soft for stomach sleepers over 230 pounds.
Pressure Relief
3/5
There is a minimal cradling effect because of the nature of Aviya’s construction. For this reason, don’t expect to sink too deeply into the mattress. Instead, you should feel more like you are sleeping on top of the mattress than in it.
Some side sleepers should experience more sinkage and, with that, more pressure relief. However, the lightest ones should go for the Plush version if they want maximum pressure relief.
Is the Aviya Mattress Good for Pain Relief?
We think the Aviya mattress should be good for pain relief. The construction is sturdy and durable, offering enough support and bounce that help with repositioning. As mentioned, there are additional coils in the center of the bed, giving extra support to the sleeper’s heaviest area. As such, it’s an excellent match to help with pain.
Back Pain
The Aviya has medium firmness and 15-gauge coils to support the sleeper, keeping the body aligned. Even most stomach sleepers should find sufficient support that prevents the hips from sinking into the mattress, helping to alleviate lower back pain.
Hip Pain
We think most people with hip pain may want to look into the Plush version of the Aviya mattress. The Luxury Firm may be too firm for some, especially side sleepers weighing under 130 pounds as they don’t weigh enough to activate the comfort layers. Heavier side sleepers may sink a bit, experiencing a bit more pressure and pain relief.
Shoulder Pain
Shoulder pain can be more difficult on side sleepers, so it’s best to avoid this sleeping position. The Aviya has a medium firmness that may not offer enough pressure and pain relief to those with shoulder pain. The comfort layers are on the firmer side, so there’s not much sinkage, especially if you’re a side sleeper under 130 pounds.
Support
5/5
Although the Luxury Firm Aviya may not be the best for pressure relief, we found it to be an excellent option for support. This mattress has two high-density comfort layers that prevent you from sinking into the construction.
However, what stands out the most is the support layer with 15-gauge coils. The middle of the mattress has even sturdier coils to enhance support in this area, keeping the midsection from collapsing and throwing the spine out of alignment.
Motion Transfer
2/5
While motion isolation is common among memory foam beds, innerspring and hybrid mattresses don’t always excel in this department. There’s more motion transfer on this Aviya mattress than many all-foam models we’ve tested.
Although the bed has multiple foam layers and pocketed coils, this is still not enough to isolate motion as well as an all-foam bed would. Although this isn’t a drawback for everyone, light sleepers may want something with better motion isolation.
Temperature Regulation / Cooling
3/5
The Aviya isn’t a cooling mattress, so don’t expect any extreme cooling features. However, it does have a few things that help with temperature regulation.
For example, this is a hybrid, and hybrids are known for their breathability. The coils allow plenty of airflow so that the foam layers don’t overheat. In addition, most sleepers should stay on top of the mattress so no heat builds up around the body.
Bounce
5/5
Sleepers looking for a bouncy bed should like this Aviya model. The coils provide lots of bounce from within the mattress, so it should be easy to change positions and get in and out of the bed.
On top of that, the upper layers are also quite responsive, coming back to shape after you move. Although this bounce is a benefit for many people, especially those with mobility issues and combination sleepers, it can also be a drawback as it allows too much motion transfer.
Edge Support
4/5
We found that the Aviya excels in edge support thanks to its thick layer of foam that goes around the perimeter. The foam is 3 inches thick, giving the area structure and durability so that it doesn’t sag when you sit or sleep near the edge.
We noticed slight compression when sitting on the edge of the bed but virtually no compression when lying in this area.
Performance for Couples
3/5
We think this mattress should be a good option for most couples, but there are a few things to consider.
First, keep in mind that it doesn’t have the best motion isolation. This can be a problem for partners with different sleeping habits and schedules.
Additionally, some couples may think it has too much bounce. While bounce is a good thing for sexually active couples, some may prefer a bit less in order to get more motion isolation from their bed.
Preference-based Features
Multiple Firmness Options
The Aviya comes in three firmness options, allowing you to choose between Plush, Luxury Firm, and Firm models. We reviewed the Luxury Firm, which appeals to most sleepers as it has medium firmness.
Quilted Top
This hybrid has premium cotton quilting at the top that allows very little sinkage. The quilting contours the body ever so slightly to prevent pressure buildup in sensitive areas. The quilting makes it feel plush and luxurious, similar to mattresses you may see in luxury hotels.
Optional Foundation Available
Apart from choosing the size and firmness of the mattress, shoppers can also order a 7-inch foundation. The foundation is made from 12 slats and comes at an additional 249 dollars.
Adjustable Base Compatible
You can use many foundations and bases with this mattress, including an adjustable base, for a bit more customization.
Made in the USA
Construction: What’s Inside the Aviya?
The Aviya is a 12-inch mattress available in three firmness options. You can also get a specific bed foundation the brand sells to be used with this mattress. If not, you can use a platform bed, adjustable base, and any other solid foundation. This isn’t a bed-in-a-box mattress, so you can use it the moment it arrives.
This is a hybrid mattress, which means it contains foam and an innerspring layer. The foam is a blend of soy and polyurethane.
- The cover is quilted to the first layer of breathable, high-density foam. This adds extra comfort but also makes it impossible to remove the cover.
- The comfort layer has dense foam at 1.8 pounds per cubic foot. This is to add more cushioning and comfort before the coil unit.
- The transition layer is what eases you into the coils underneath. This layer is on the firmer side, offering excellent support, especially in the lumbar region.
- The support layer has pocketed coils made from 15-gauge steel. There are approximately 800 pieces in the Queen bed, with more or less in other sizes. The middle of the bed features an extra strip of more solid springs to enhance lumbar support.
- The base layer is an inch of foam that ensures durability and structure.
There is also a layer of foam around the perimeter for edge support.
Unboxing & Off-Gassing
The company ships this mattress full-size, so it’s ready to use right when it arrives at your doorstep. The package may be a bit cumbersome, depending on the size you choose. For this reason, we think it’s best to have a friend or family member help you move it to the bedroom.
White glove delivery was an option, but they don’t offer these services anymore due to the pandemic.
Certifications
- Eco-Friendly Certifications – The foams in this bed are CertiPUR-US® certified. CertiPUR-US® is a third-party program that ensures the foams meet rigorous health and safety standards. This means they don’t contain harmful substances like ozone depleters, PBDEs, heavy metals, formaldehyde, and phthalates. They should also have low volatile organic compound (VOC) emissions.

Frequently Asked Questions
Does Aviya have eco-friendly materials?
The Aviya doesn’t have many eco-friendly materials. The only natural material in the Aviya mattress is its cotton cover.
Do I need to flip the Aviya?
The Aviya mattress isn’t a flippable one. This means the layers are stacked to perform in a certain way, and flipping the mattress would impact its performance. You’d lose all the benefits of its comfort layers as the coils would be closer to your body.
Does Aviya offer white glove delivery?
Aviya used to offer white glove delivery and old-mattress-removal service. However, since the pandemic, they no longer offer this.

Our Verdict
The Aviya is a hybrid mattress designed to fit many people in different sleeping positions. This model combines foam and high-quality coils in a versatile construction that’s popular among hotels and private users.
The design allows for plenty of airflow and minimal sinkage, so overheating shouldn’t be an issue. However, we think that particularly hot sleepers may want a mattress with more cooling features.
What we like the most is the reinforced lumbar area and edge support. The two make for a sturdy mattress that should deliver good support Overall, this bed earned a 3.7 out of 5 from our team.
