Who We Recommend The Live and Sleep Classic For:
- Budget shoppers – This company has removed the middleman and keeps marketing costs low. This means that they can offer three extremely affordable options that still provide the comfort and quality you’re looking for.
- Back sleepers – We feel that the Classic offers medium-firm support that is ideal for many sleepers, but mainly those who like sleeping on their back. The supportive base should keep the hips elevated with the rest of the body, while the plush comfort layer is designed for pressure relief.
- Eco-friendly shoppers – Manufacturing foam typically requires the addition of chemicals to control its properties. Live and Sleep uses a state-of-the-art pressure chamber instead of chemicals, allowing for a more consistent foam with less toxic chemicals.
Who We Don’t Recommend The Live and Sleep Classic For:
- Side sleepers – The Classic has a soft top layer over a firm base. We think this firmer bed offers enough pressure relief to support stomach and back sleepers but may not be as comfortable for sleeping on the side. If you’re a side sleeper, you may want to consider the Luxury model, which is a bit softer.
- Those who want a bouncy bed – Foam materials perform exceptionally well in gently cradling the body and isolating motion, but they don’t offer the same bounce that you’ll find in innerspring beds.
First Impressions: Firmness & Feel
Firmness Scale: 7.5/10
Please remember that firmness is a subjective characteristic and your shape will dictate how you experience a bed. A heavier person whose weight can more easily push through softer comfort and support layers may experience a bed as softer than a lightweight person. The way you are shaped could also play a role here. Consider your weight, shape, and size when evaluating firmness scores.
We scored this mattress according to our firmness scale as a 7.5 out of 10, placing it in the slightly firm range. If you’re looking for something softer, the Luxury model has a more medium-firm feel at a 6-6.5 out of 10. For people who like an even firmer feel, the Elite comes in at an 8 out of 10.
The Classic model should suit many people looking for a softer layer for pressure relief but still desire a firm core for support. We think that the softer comfort layer combined with a firmer base may specifically work well for combination sleepers who like to change positions during the night.
How Does It Feel?
The first thing you’ll feel is the cover, which has a soft, airy feel. We think it adds a nice touch and is also quite breathable to prevent overheating.
This bed has a soft, comforting top layer that you immediately feel conforming to your curves. Rather than sinking into the softer memory foam layer, we found this bed holds you in a gentle cradle, so you should feel like you’re sleeping on a cloud.
What We Like About the Live and Sleep Classic
- Affordable price – Mattresses can get expensive, which you probably noticed on your quest for a new bed. However, this Live and Sleep model is among the most affordable options we’ve reviewed.
- Certified materials – This bed comes with CertiPUR-US® and OEKO-TEX® certifications, indicating it meets strict health and safety standards.
- Traditional memory foam feel – This bed is called “Classic” for a reason. We think it provides that traditional slow-sinking memory foam feel that cradles you into a cozy comfort layer. However, it doesn’t lack support as it’s on the firmer side of the scale.
Our Live and Sleep Classic Complaints
- Short trial – This bed comes with a 30-night trial, which is rather short, given that most companies offer at least 100 to 365 nights.
- Not ideal for petite side sleepers – Although we think average-weight and some heavy side sleepers should like this memory foam bed, those who are significantly lighter may prefer a different bed.
- It has no bounce – The Live and Sleep Classic has no bounce. The foams in this bed respond slowly, taking several seconds to come back to shape after you move.
Testing the Live and Sleep Classic Mattress: How It Performed
When we test mattresses, our team focuses on how the bed feels in various positions, as this can help us determine who would find it the most comfortable. However, we also check how well it does when it comes to pressure relief, support, edge support, motion isolation, bounce, and more.

Sleeping Positions for Different Body Types
We couldn’t find any specific information on how much weight the Live and Sleep Classic can support. However, this is an all-foam mattress so it likely won’t be able to bear as much weight as a hybrid with coils would.
Weight | Side Sleepers | Back Sleepers | Stomach Sleepers |
Lightweight Sleepers (-130 lbs) | ★☆☆ | ★★★ | ★★★ |
Average-Weight Sleepers (130-230 lbs) | ★★★ | ★★★ | ★★☆ |
Heavyweight Sleepers (+230 lbs) | ★★☆ | ★★★ | ★☆☆ |
Side Sleepers
- Lightweight Sleepers – We think people under 130 pounds may like this bed if they’re fans of a firmer sleeping surface. However, many of these folks may be too light to activate the comfort layers for pressure relief.
- Average-Weight Sleepers – Side sleepers weighing 130 to 230 pounds should experience different levels of sinkage and support. For the most part, we’d say they’re the best group to feel the balance of relief and spine alignment.
- Heavyweight Sleepers – Heavy side sleepers may find the firm surface slightly softer. However, those with hip and shoulder pain may not get enough relief in this position.
Back Sleepers
- Lightweight Sleepers – Lightweight back sleepers should feel like they’re sleeping ‘on’ the mattress more than ‘in’ it. However, there should be just enough sinkage around the lower back to prevent pain and pressure.
- Average-Weight Sleepers – Average-weight back sleepers should experience excellent spine alignment with just enough sinkage around the lower back and shoulders to prevent pressure from building up.
- Heavyweight Sleepers – Heavy back sleepers may sink a bit deeper, but the foams do a good job of distributing weight. This means the sinkage is even across the bed and the firm support ensures no weird dips around the hips occur.
Stomach Sleepers
- Lightweight Sleepers – We think lightweight stomach sleepers should like the firm support the Live and Sleep Classic provides. This group doesn’t weigh enough to sink into the mattress, so the hips are likely to stay aligned and supported.
- Average-Weight Sleepers – Stomach sleepers weighing 130 to 230 pounds will once again experience different support and sinkage levels. Nonetheless, we think that most should feel nicely supported by the comfort layers even if the mattress feels a bit softer.
- Heavyweight Sleepers – Heavy stomach sleepers may prefer a firmer bed. Although the Classic model is on the firmer side, we think those over 250 pounds are likely to sink too deeply around the hips, which can throw the spine out of alignment.
Pressure Relief
4/5
The Live and Sleep Classic mattress has memory foam layers strategically placed to deliver optimal pressure relief for most sleepers. However, it’s on the firmer side, so it may not fit everyone, especially when it comes to side sleeping.
The top layer allows a soft cradle, but those under 130 pounds may experience the bed as firmer and with that, receive less pressure relief.
Is the Live and Sleep Classic Mattress Good for Pain Relief?
The Live and Sleep Classic has qualities that could help with pain relief, though this bed is on the firmer side, and with that in mind, you should think about how that fits with your weight and preferred sleeping position.
Back Pain
People with back pain should find relief with the Live and Sleep Classic as it combines multiple layers into a slightly firmer construction. The top memory foam layer cradles the lower back to relieve pressure, while the 7.5-inch base ensures the spine stays aligned in all sleeping positions. That being said, some heavier stomach sleepers may need something more substantial to help keep their hips lifted to prevent lower back pain.
Hip Pain
Those with hip pain should be careful, considering how firm the Classic mattress feels. We think this bed should accommodate a range of people, but some may find it too firm to relieve pressure and pain around the hips, especially while lying on the side. If you like this bed but have hip pain, we suggest you switch to your back.
Shoulder Pain
This bed has a soft cover and memory foam comfort layer, allowing some sinkage to help relieve pressure, though this won’t be enough for everyone. In other words, it may be too firm for side sleepers with shoulder pain, who we think should look for a softer bed.
Support
4/5
The Live and Sleep mattress has a 7.5-inch high-density base that provides excellent support.
Back sleepers should feel the softer top layer gently conforming to the natural curves of the spine. As the body sinks through and hits the firmer base, the extra support is designed to promote proper spinal alignment by keeping the hips even with the shoulders and legs. We also think this bed should be supportive enough for another group that requires adequate lifting: stomach sleepers.
However, it’s important to mention that the bed’s support doesn’t come at the price of pressure relief. The top layer still provides a gentle cradle to help cushion your pressure points.
Motion Transfer
5/5
Do you have kids who somehow always wind up in your bed or a canine friend who prefers more spinal support than his flimsy doggy bed can give him? Regardless of who you share a bed with, being able to sleep through the chaotic movements of pets, partners, and tiny tots is essential. Motion isolation is where foam really shines, and the Classic is no exception.
Sleeping on this bed should be like sleeping in the eye of a storm. Even if your co-sleeper is moving about at 2:00 a.m., you shouldn’t feel much of it. All three of Live and Sleep’s beds perform very well in isolating motion.
Temperature Regulation / Cooling
3/5
This all-foam bed is not a cooling mattress, so if you’re a particularly hot sleeper, we suggest you look at the Elite model.
The foams have an open-cell structure, which helps with air circulation. The stretch knit cover also helps a little as it’s breathable, so it doesn’t retain heat. We didn’t feel any heat building up, but those who usually sleep hot may need more cooling.
Bounce
2/5
While the foam is slightly slower to respond, we don’t think sleepers would feel stuck in this bed. Like most all-foam beds, there is very little bounce to this mattress. Being on the firmer side does mean that repositioning should still be easier than in beds that are on the plush end.
Edge Support
3/5
Mattresses with poor edge support really limit the amount of space you have for sleep and other bedroom activities. Likewise, if you’re used to sitting on the side of your bed to tie your shoes or get dressed, you want something sturdy enough to support your weight.
All-foam beds don’t typically excel in this category, but the Classic is firm enough that you shouldn’t worry about rolling off the side in the middle of the night. We found there’s some sinkage when sitting on the edge, but it’s not too bad. Additionally, you shouldn’t feel any sinkage when sleeping in this area.
Performance for Couples
3/5
Certain qualities make mattresses good for couples. These qualities include motion isolation, bounce, weight capacity, and perhaps cooling for those who sleep hot.
The Live and Sleep Classic is somewhere in the middle, offering excellent motion isolation but very little bounce for sexually active couples. Also, it has great edge support, allowing couples to use the entire surface of the bed, but it doesn’t have the best cooling.

Construction: What’s Inside the Live and Sleep Classic?
The top cover is a thin, stretch-knit fabric that is soft and breathable. This removable cover can be spot-cleaned using a mild detergent or sparkling water. However, this is something you should be careful with because getting the foams too wet could alter their performance and even lead to mold due to slow drying.
Overall, the Live and Sleep Classic mattress is made up of two layers that stand 10 inches high.
- Below the cover is the comfort layer, which features 2.5 inches of premium memory foam. This layer is designed to provide a gentle hug, conforming to the natural curves of the body without making you feel stuck. The open-cell structure of the foam is self-ventilating, allowing air to flow through for temperature regulation.
- The bottom layer is the total body support core featuring 7.5 inches of high-density foam. This durable layer offers a firm base. This foam is a little more resilient to help with repositioning and prevent unwanted sinkage.
The Elite also starts with 2.5 inches of memory foam but adds in half an inch of cooling gel memory foam on top of a 7-inch core support. The Luxury takes it a step further, starting with 2.5 inches of contour open-cell memory foam, 1-inch cooling gel memory foam, and 8.5-inch core support.
Unboxing & Off-Gassing
The Live & Sleep Classic is an all-foam bed that is shipped to your door in a box. Like most bed-in-a-box brands, this mattress requires 24-72 hours to return to its original shape after unboxing (a little longer in cooler climates).
We noticed a little off-gassing, but this is normal for all-foam beds, especially those that come in a box. The odors should dissipate by the time the mattress decompresses.

Our Verdict
Overall, this bed earned a score of 3.5 out of 5. While the overall score may not be the highest, keep in mind that some of the specific categories we scored, which go into this aggregate score, may not be important for you. For example, if motion isolation is more important to you than bounce, you can neglect its poor rating in that category.
Overall, if you’re in the market for a budget-friendly bed that still ticks all the boxes in comfort and support, we think the Live and Sleep Classic is worth your consideration.
