Our Layla vs. DreamCloud Premier comparison examines these beds side by side and lets you determine the winner. Layla offers a foam mattress with copper-infused memory foam for enhanced cooling, while also giving sleepers more for their money with its double-sided firmness – simply flip it and voilà, you have an entirely different feel.
The all-foam 10-inch Layla goes up against the DreamCloud Premier, a 14-inch hybrid. The DreamCloud Premier uses an assortment of materials to construct one of the industry’s leading hybrids, selling luxury at an impressive price tag. Let’s see which one works for you.

365 nightsWho I’d Recommend the Layla For
- Indecisive shoppers – Unsure if you prefer a more plush or firm feel? There’s no need to choose with the Layla as you get both with this dual-sided bed. One side features a softer, more swaddling feel, but when you flip the mattress, you’ll find a more supportive, ‘on top of’ the bed feel.
- Light sleepers with restless partners – The Layla has superior motion isolation, which means that you shouldn’t feel movement on your side of the bed when your partner tosses and turns.
- Budget-conscious shoppers – The Layla is considerably cheaper than the DreamCloud Premier, but you’re still getting bang for your buck. We think this is a great, affordable option for those with a bit less money to spend.
Who I’d Recommend the DreamCloud Premier For
- Those who want a more responsive mattress – With its springy coil unit, the DreamCloud Premier offers more bounce than the all-foam Layla, which has next to no bounce. However, some of the DreamCloud’s bounce is muffled by its thick foam layers, so it’s not as bouncy as some other hybrids out there.
- Shoppers who want affordable luxury – The DreamCloud Premier is certainly more expensive than the Layla, but it’s still rather affordable, offering a luxurious, quality bed at a fraction of what you might find in a traditional brick-and-mortar store.
- Fans of Euro tops – This bed features a 2-inch Euro top containing plush memory foam and poly foam, quilted to a luxuriously soft cashmere-blend cover. If you love the unmistakably cozy feel of a Euro top, this might just be the one for you.
Comparing Layla vs. DreamCloud Premier : Top Similarities
- Memory foam comfort layers – Despite having very different constructions, both beds feature memory foam in their comfort layers, offering you that delicious, distinctive hug that the material is famous for.
- Warranty – Both brands offer lifetime warranties with these beds.
- Unsuitable for heavyweight sleepers – We think the support offered by both mattresses is great for most light to average-weight people, but heavier people weighing more than 230 pounds may be better off looking for a firmer mattress.
Comparing Layla vs. DreamCloud Premier : Key Differences
- Edge support – Hybrids tend to offer better edge support than all-foam models because of the coils. This edge support is even more enhanced on the DreamCloud Premier since it has reinforced perimeter coils. Those who like to spread out should feel more secure on this bed rather than the Layla.
- Cooling – We found the DreamCloud Premier to sleep warmer than your average hybrid, and the Layla to sleep quite cool for an all-foam. The Layla includes heat-conducting copper gel-infused foam and breathable foam.
- Trial period – The Layla has a trial period of 120 nights, while the DreamCloud Premier offers a much longer trial of 365 nights, giving you more time to make up your mind.
Comparing Firmness, Support & Feel
Firmness
We rate mattress firmness on a scale from 1 to 10, with 10 being the most firm. The Layla is flippable, offering a Soft and a Firm side. We rated the Soft side 4 to 5 out of 10, which is medium-soft. The Firm side was ranked at a 5 to 6 out of 10.
The DreamCloud Premier has one comfort level, which we rated as a 5.5 out of 10. Medium is a fairly versatile feel, though we don’t think either bed will provide enough support for heavier individuals.
Support
The inclusion of copper gel in Layla’s top layer allows the foam to respond to your body, providing extra support where it’s most needed. “It really feels like the mattress is adapting to your body,” reported mattress tester Stuart.
Reviewer Emma shared that the steel coils in the DreamCloud Premier offered great support. We think lighter individuals may prefer the Layla’s Soft side, while average-weight sleepers should find ample support on both the Layla’s Firm side and the DreamCloud Premier.
Feel
If you’re looking for a luxurious feel, look no further than the DreamCloud Premier. “From the second you lie down on the lush cashmere Euro top cover, you’ll feel cozy. Pressure-relieving memory foam quilted into the Euro top wraps around the body, making you feel snug and secure,” Emma shared.
Meanwhile, Stuart reported a similar feel on the Layla’s Soft side. “It has a swaddling feel and is definitely more plush than the Firm side, which feels more supportive and has less sink.”
Comparing Sinkage and Bounce
You should experience a deep memory foam hug on both the DreamCloud Premier and the Soft side of the Layla. Stuart shared that he felt more ‘on top of’ the bed on Layla’s Firm side, which offers a more gentle cradle.
We found it a little difficult to reposition on the Layla’s Soft side as there’s no bounce. While the DreamCloud Premier doesn’t offer a crazy amount of bounce considering it’s a hybrid, it definitely provides more pushback than the Layla, making it easier to move around on. This could appeal to combination sleepers or those with mobility issues.
Comparing Motion Transfer
The all-foam Layla takes the cake when it comes to motion isolation. “It has excellent motion isolation; jump up and down, dance a little, feel free to wiggle a little and you’re never going to bother your partner while they sleep,” reported Stuart.
As the DreamCloud Premier features coils and has more bounce, the motion isolation isn’t as good as the Layla, though it performed pretty well for a hybrid. “The multiple layers of foam should keep you from being awakened when your partner moves around throughout the night,” shared Emma. However, we’d recommend the Layla for super sensitive sleepers who are worried about having their sleep disturbed.
Comparing Cooling
Hybrids usually sleep cooler than all-foam mattresses as their coil units allow air to flow through the bed. However, the DreamCloud Premier has added thick layers of foam above the coils, which inhibits cooling. It definitely felt warmer than your average hybrid, despite the breathable cover. The Layla has incorporated copper gel into the top layer and features convoluted foam, which helps regulate temperature. “The copper in the mattress responds to your body heat to whisk it away from you, keeping you cool and comfy,” reported Stuart. However, we didn’t find the cooling cover to feel that cool. That being said, you might sleep slightly cooler on the Layla.

Layla Construction
This flippable bed is 10 inches tall, offering a Soft side and a Firm side. The removable cover is made from a blend of polyester, rayon, viscose, and lycra. It’s coated with Thermo Gel, a cooling agent that draws heat away from the sleeper.
- The comfort layer on the Soft side features 3 inches of plush, copper gel-infused memory foam, providing pressure relief and adaptive support. Copper has cooling and antimicrobial properties.
- The second layer has 2 inches of Max Airflow convoluted support foam. This layer is egg crate-shaped, which increases airflow and cooling. Three zones provide support and pressure relief where most needed.
- The third layer is made from 4 inches of support foam that helps minimize motion transfer.
- The base layer features 1 inch of the same copper-infused foam that’s in the Soft comfort layer, though this has a firmer feel. Once flipped, the layers reverse, and this becomes the top layer of the Firm side.

DreamCloud Premier Construction
This 14-inch hybrid starts with a breathable, cashmere-blend Euro top that has a luxurious feel and is stitched with a cloud pattern. There are two foam layers stitched into this Euro top, and these make up the comfort layer.
- Within the Euro top is a 1-inch layer of pressure-relieving memory foam that offers comfortable and responsive contouring.
- The second Euro top layer consists of 1 inch of soft foam that’s designed to offer light resistance beneath the memory foam.
- The dynamic transition layer features 2.5 inches of conventional foam, which promotes a healthy spine alignment while providing a buffer from the firm coils beneath.
- The support layer is made up of 8.5-inch steel coils, which are individually wrapped to minimize motion transfer. This layer allows for airflow, helping to keep the mattress cool. Reinforced coils around the perimeter provide edge support.
- The base layer has 1 inch of standard foam, creating a durable foundation for the rest of the bed.
