Who We Don’t Recommend The Nectar UK For:
- People who want a bouncy bed – All-foam mattresses are typically excellent for pressure relief and motion isolation, but it’s not so easy to find a bouncy memory foam bed. This Nectar lacks the bounce, and as Emma points out, “We can see this is a slower-responding bed because the memory foam is taking a couple of seconds to regain its shape.” This means it’s not the best mattress for sex, for example.
- Innerspring fans – If you’re after a bed with coils, this Nectar isn’t for you. The mattress is made entirely out of foam, and although it has excellent pressure-relieving capabilities, it lacks the responsiveness of an innerspring or a hybrid mattress.

Please remember that firmness is a subjective characteristic and your body type will dictate how you experience a bed. A heavier person whose weight can more easily push through softer comfort and support layers might experience a bed as softer than a lightweight person. The way you are shaped could also play a role here. Consider your weight, shape, and size when evaluating firmness scores.
We rate mattresses on a firmness scale of 1 to 10, with 10 being the firmest. We rated this bed at a 6.5 to 7 out of 10, which means it’s a versatile option that “should accommodate a variety of sleepers and different sleeping positions,” as Emma mentioned.
The Nectar UK’s mid-range firmness paired with pressure-relieving memory foam should feel nice and contour well in various sleeping positions. Even stomach sleepers, who typically need firmer beds, should find sufficient support in the Nectar UK, though this will also depend on their body weight.
How Does it Feel?
Settling in, you should feel the bed slowly respond as it wraps you in a deeper hug. The breathable foams and soft cover with adaptive cooling technology should keep you cool, and the foams should not be overly difficult to navigate should you want to reposition. We found the bounce in this bed is minimal, which you can see in the video when Emma pushes into the layers all the way to the base of the bed.
Sleeping Positions for Different Body Types
As most Nectar mattresses can handle up to 650 pounds, we’d say that’s likely the case for the Nectar UK. Below, we’ll cover how we think this bed fares for different body types and sleep styles.
Side Sleepers
- Lightweight Sleepers – We think the Nectar UK could be a good match for lightweight side sleepers as it has excellent pressure-relieving capabilities. The mattress offers a gentle cradle that should help relieve and prevent pressure in the hips, shoulders, and knees. However, significantly lightweight people may find it a tad too firm.
- Average-Weight Sleepers – Emma is an average-weight person, and she said the Nectar UK felt nice on her hips, shoulders, and knees, even with most of her weight concentrated across a narrow surface when in this position.
- Heavyweight Sleepers – Heavy side sleepers are likely to sink deeper, but we don’t expect this to throw the spine out of alignment. Instead, we think most people should find sufficient relief without losing any of the support and spine alignment.
Back Sleepers
- Lightweight Sleepers – Back sleepers should like the mid-range firmness paired with the gentle cradle of the memory foam. The foams contour the lower back to prevent pressure buildup, while the sturdy base ensures proper spine alignment.
- Average-Weight Sleepers – Emma said she could “really feel the memory materials conforming to the gap between my shoulders and hips”. She goes on to say this “feels nice,” so we think most average-weight sleepers should like sleeping in this position.
- Heavyweight Sleepers – Heavy back sleepers may sink deeper, but the firmer nature of the Nectar UK should still do a good job of keeping everything aligned. However, we think those well over 230 pounds may still want something even firmer.
Stomach Sleepers
- Lightweight Sleepers – Stomach sleepers usually need maximum support to prevent the hips from sinking. However, lightweight sleepers don’t usually have this concern, and sleeping on the Nectar UK should provide sufficient support given the bed’s medium firmness and slowly-responding foams.
- Average-Weight Sleepers – When Emma rolled on her stomach, she first pointed out that “the support system is doing its job.” She said she felt “supported and aligned.” Therefore, we think this could be a good choice for stomach sleepers in this weight group.
- Heavyweight Sleepers – Some heavy stomach sleepers should find enough support sleeping on the Nectar UK, but this depends on their exact weight and body frame. Those significantly over 230 pounds may want something firmer and with coils for extra support in the hip area.

The Nectar’s memory foam is the third layer down and is designed to target common pressure points such as the shoulders, hips, and legs. The quilted cover and dynamic support foam above are two additional comfort layers that should further aid in this, so you shouldn’t have to worry about waking up with aches and pains.
Is The Nectar UK Mattress Good for Pain Relief?
Heavy side sleepers are likely to sink deeper, but we don’t expect this to throw the spine out of alignment. Instead, we think most people should find sufficient relief without losing any of the support and spine alignment.
Back Pain
We think sleepers with back pain should experience relief because Nectar UK doesn’t allow too much sinkage. The bed is designed to keep your body aligned so your back and hips are unlikely to sink too much. As a result, we think most people should have their spine nicely supported and aligned, which can help relieve pain in this area.
Hip Pain
We think people with hip pain should like the gentle cradle this mattress provides. The Nectar UK may not offer too much sinkage right when you lie on it, but we think you should feel the slow and gentle cradle soon enough.
Shoulder Pain
Although the foams in this bed do a nice job of relieving pressure and pain, the firmness may not fit everyone, especially significantly lightweight people who can’t activate the upper layers as easily.

The primary support mechanism of the Nectar is the 7-zone support base “designed to target different parts of your body,” as Emma pointed out. While the comfort layers give you that gentle cradle feel, we found that the base helps prevent you from sinking too much and throwing off your alignment. Additionally, the dynamic support foam is designed to complement this and provide even more support.
We think this bed should be plenty supportive for many people, though heavier stomach sleepers may want something more substantial, such as a firmer bed or hybrid model.
Motion Transfer

Motion isolation is a big concern for many people, especially couples and co-sleepers. The last thing you want is for your partner, child, or pet to wake you up when they move around the bed. This is where Nectar UK really shines, as it’s made entirely out of foam.
Memory foam rates well for motion isolation due to its ability to absorb pressure and slowly envelop concentrations of weight. Any shifts in position or the comings and goings of partners, pets, or children should not disturb you since “there’s not a whole lot of movement,” as Emma demonstrated in the video.
Temperature Regulation / Cooling

We think hot sleepers will appreciate Nectar’s thoughtfulness in incorporating cooling features into this memory foam bed. While the cooling cover draws heat away from your body, the dynamic support layer underneath further promotes temperature regulation and airflow.
If you watch the video, you’ll see Emma demonstrating how Nectar’s cooling features work, starting with the cover, cooling technology, and gel infusions that help “further regulate temperature.”.

Unfortunately, Emma found “almost zero bounce coming from this bed.” Some people love a bouncy bed, and it can help make it easier to reposition if you and your partner are sexually active or you have limited ability. If this feature is high on your list of priorities in a mattress, though, we’d recommend the flagship Nectar mattress for example.
Edge Support

This bed performs as expected based on the industry’s standards, and you should sleep securely on the side of the bed and experience some minor compression when seated with all of your weight on the edge.
You’ve maybe never considered edge support in your life, but if you share your bed or you need to increase the bed’s overall sleeping space, this category may be necessary to consider because it can “make or break your mattress purchase,” as Emma pointed out.
Performance for Couples

Similar to the needs of combination sleepers, couples need a bed that’s able to cater to different sleep styles. Motion isolation and edge support are also important mattress features for couples who don’t want to wake their partner and have ample surface space, and we found that this bed should do well at both.

Construction: What’s Inside the Nectar UK?
Starting at the top of the Nectar UK Memory Foam model is the Quilted Cooling Cover, a custom-designed material aimed at drawing heat away from the body while circulating fresh, cool air with each and every movement you make. The cooling cover is made of polyester on top and a polypropylene base on the bottom and edges to help keep the mattress secure on your bed frame. The polyester surface is white, while the polypropylene base is a light gray color.
The Nectar UK model is a total of 25 centimeters thick.
- Below the cover is the Dynamic Support Layer, a breathable open-cell foam designed to amplify airflow throughout the bed, keeping you cool as a cucumber for a better night’s rest and minimized chance of waking up hot. This foam is also designed to deliver support and some bounce.
- Further down is the memory foam layer. We think this is where the magic happens for folks seeking pressure relief and comfort. The soft memory material is engineered to conform to your unique shape so that discomfort in your joints can be a thing of the past.
- The bottom layer is the 7-Zone Support Base. The foam here is divided into seven zones to target different parts of your body and ensure your spine remains level and your body is comfortably enveloped.
Unboxing & Off-Gassing
The Nectar UK is a bed-in-a-box mattress, which means it comes compressed and rolled into a box. We found that this makes it easier to move from your doorstep to the bedroom.
Once you remove the mattress from the box and remove the packaging, we suggest you place it onto your foundation of choice. This way, when it starts decompressing, it does so on the foundation. The entire unboxing process should be easy if you have a friend or family member helping you. The company doesn’t offer any in-home delivery options, but you can choose the day you want your mattress delivered.
Off-gassing is that new mattress smell you might have noticed on previous beds you’ve purchased. It’s common among memory foam mattresses, but we recommend giving this bed a day or two to air out if you’re sensitive to smells.
